Beta \"Hellkat\" on party

This is the greatest tilt reliever ever. They are also super profitable for you low stakes grinders.

This thread is for discussion of good strategy.

Re: Beta \"Hellkat\" on party

i think the same strategy for any SnG for the first 2/3 is correct, the fact that no-one else seems to agree is what makes them so easy to beat.

Manipulation of your time bank later on and awareness of your position in the tourney is what pays in the final 1/3. Q becomes more important than M.

Apathy 08-04-2007 08:23 PM

Re: Beta \"Hellkat\" on party

For you non partyers this is a tourney is set up like a standard 10 + 1 Sit 'n Go, with unique payout and blind structures.

The tournament is limited to either 15 or 30 minutes, (although most of the ones in play are 15 minutes) and the payouts are divided to the largest three stacks at the end of the alocated timebank.

Also, the blinds go up every three minutes to push the action a bit.

Basically this is a STT on cocaine as normal strategy is thrown to the wind for a number of reasons.

There are only two possible responses to this post.

1. The US needs to take over Canada so you can't play on party.

2. Canada needs to take over the US so we can.

Obv solution is to declare the american war of independence null and void. Then you wouldn't even pay taxes on poker.

Well, I don't know how to play them...usually I end up around my original Stack with 5 Mintutes left on the clock and don't know what to do from there.

As the man said to stop him tilting. Some of the late game plays are so bad that its worth the time/buyin to see them.

Last hand and leader in BB calls shorties shove, when a fold gets him first place.

Really they are great therapy if your runnig bad.

Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t300 (3 handed) Hand History converter Courtesy of PokerZion.com

BB (t4670)
Button (t10950)
Hero (t4380)

Preflop: Hero is SB with K[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], J[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img].
2 folds.

Final Pot: t450

Not sure if this was really retarded. Do I still get third if I don't last the 15 minutes? If so I have nothing to lose and everything to gain by shoving here.

Thought I had first wrapped up, but then this happened on the second last hand:

Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t300 (3 handed) Hand History converter Courtesy of PokerZion.com

Button (t6920)
Hero (t8010)
BB (t5070)

Preflop: Hero is SB with 2[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], K[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img].
Button calls t300, 1 fold, BB calls [t4770] t300, Button calls t4770.

Flop: (t5520) 7[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 5[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 2[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (2 players)

Turn: (t5520) 8[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 players)

River: (t5520) 2[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (2 players)

Final Pot: t5520

Results in white below:
BB has Qs Ac (one pair, twos).
Button has Qc 9s (one pair, twos).
Outcome: BB wins t5520.

Re: Beta \"Hellkat\" on party

i hated these when i played them, aren't they the ultimate donkaments?

FoldALot. 08-10-2007 05:55 PM

Re: Beta \"Hellkat\" on party

Okay here's a very basic question:

Button: 9000
Hero: 7000
BB: 4000

Button stalls, making it the last hand.
Now if I fold I get 2nd place.
If I play the hand, there's no doubt the BB will go all in.
If I win, I get first.
If I lose, I get third.

So basically I would risk $10 (difference between 2nd and 3rd) to win $20 (difference between 1st and 2nd), which means I am getting 2 to 1.

According to Pokerstove, all hands except 42o and 32o are better than 33.3% to win in a showdown against a random hand.

So does that mean I can confidently push with hands like 53s and 72o in this spot?

Pudge714 08-10-2007 06:21 PM

Re: Beta \"Hellkat\" on party

FoldALot,
Well if he is good he should be calling ATC.
If you win at showdown.
You get 50% of the prize pool if you lose at showdown you get 20% of the prize pool.

So P(win).50 + P(lose).20 > .30
At P(win) = 1/3rd it is neutral EV.
You should be shoving everything except 32o.
It gets trickier if he isn't calling with ATC.
