Its a pretty stupid list. Antonio Gates is ranked several spots above Randy Moss. Calvin Johnson and Vince Young are on there as well.

(after reading 1-10) Lemme guess, Randy Moss loses big-time on "intangibles."

(after reading Randy Moss's entry) Yup.

The fact that this list doesn't include Fred Taylor as top 50 to get in the HoF it's a joke. He will rush for 10,000 yards this season, only 21 other backs have done it before.

Oh and Strahan not being a top 10 is a joke as well.

Vinatieri is a shoooooe-in.

Seymour should be there as well, but he's maybe not top 10 yet.

Re: Am I getting leveled by the ESPN article?

This list is really bad they really really overvalue players with >5 years of NFL service team ignoring injuries or massive decline.
A really good example of this is that
Freeney>Sapp
It is likely that Freeney will have a better career than Sapp, but at this point Sapp is pretty close to a lock for the HOF where Freeney is not even close to that.

Also Michael Vick should be higher it is the Hall of FAME he is more famous than Steve Hutchinson.

He's never been in the top 5 in rushing yards, and has only been top 10 four times.

No real post-season success, no pro-bowl appearances, and he's only got 300 carries once in his career.

Ty Law, who is a pretty much a mortal lock, is #35. Shawne Merriman, who will probably not make it, is #21. I did like seeing Larry Allen all the way up at #4.

Also, I am dumber for having looked at this list. Please don't link to stuff like this in the future.

I think the most shocking thing about this list is that ESPN didn't rank Reggie Bush as the greatest football player ever and claim that he's already earned a guaranteed spot in the hall of fame.

I mean he's not saying how he would vote... he's saying who's most likely to make the HOF.... people that vote do vote on intangibles... it isn't a list of who should be in, it's who will.... I don't think it's THAT bad

also, it's funny how you can pull up espn.com in the morning and predict which articles will be on 2p2 by the after noon. i think a long time poster could bat .900 without a problem.

The fact that he is approaching a number that only a handful of players have reached and I believe has 3 years left on his legs behind a good O-line with Jones/Jones-Drew supporting him in the backfield doesn't put him as a top 50 player right now to get in the hall. Adrian Peterson is a better choice? Reggie Bush?

Then that's a sin. I know the pro-bowl thing is a tremendous blow on him. I wish he played in another market other than Jacksonville due to how great of a back he is. Hitting his prime for a team that was 6-10 and still hitting numbers like 1314 and 1572.

I just hope that he gets the chance to hit 10k in Jax so it can be appreciated.

You do realize that in the NFL career numbers aren't as big of a factor as they are in other sports. They want players who were top players at their position for a couple of years. Fred Taylor, due to injury, really has never been a consistant top 5 or even top 10 back in the NFL. Yes he might be close to 10k yards but to the NFL HOF it doesn't matter. You must remember Art Monk isn't in the HOF and he is like #6 all-time in reps and #11 all-time in catches.

Do you think Corey Dillon #14 all-time in Yards Rushing is a lock? How bout Tiki? Do you think Ahman Green (#28) has any chance? Or Warrick Dunn. Tiki probally has the best chance of all 4 and that's b/c of his outstanding final 3 seasons in the NFL.

The fact of the matter is the upside of Bush gives him an honest shot to make the HOF. Fred Taylor's good but not amazing years are going to make it tough for him to get in.

Please stop before you embarrass yourself. Just a cursory glance at his career stats shows hes missed something like 38 games in his career due to injury. Led the team in rushing in 6 of his 8 seasons due to this(Not HOF quality). ZERO Pro Bowls. You can try to blame that on Jacksonville, or the fact that maybe he didn't deserve it. There are many great players who made Pro Bowls year after year while being in small markets. You also give him 3 'good' years left. It will be interesting, as running backs often lose effectiveness quickly(especially 'fragile' ones).
