Molested at $2/4
 

Only been at this table for 10 minutes. Villain has been seeing a lot of flops and hasn't raised preflop once. That's all I have. Should I check/call turn? Against someone who could be "stationy" and I can't really make that claim with great evidence I figured by betting the turn I'd get value out of QJ/KQ/AQ.

Thoughts?

I almost think he might show up with QT, KQ with a spade, AQ with a spade possibly a decent percentage of the time...or even 76,56..maybe turn is closer than I thought.

i think against someone like described you can c/c the turn and have huge odds if you boat up. also i don't think he'll bet the turn very often so it's basically giving you a free card to b/f the river or c/c or b/3b depending on the river of course.

Pretty much we are just calling the turn to boat and folding to any river bets in which we don't, right?

I'm not sure if I love the turn call then if he bets large.

Only reason I see if it's an easy turn check if villain is capable of making a sick bluff here. Man that makes me want to puke if he's capable of doing that.

I hate these answers myself, but it`s a first point.
I would bet turn weaker, because you are value blocking and could then reevaluate if you had odds or not..

You have to fold now, because he isn`t semibluffing here, ever.

Could we not confuse me more? this is like 50/50 split I think I played it good thinking more about it. This guy seemed to be pretty passive.

I don't like check/calling $100ish if I'm just looking for a boat on the river, either.

I think bet/folding this turn is fine since if the player is as loose passive as you're describing you get good value out of top pair hands and generally won't get raised off the best hand. fine play

I guess you could argue that it's close but I think this is an easy c/c on the turn, unless he's uber passive he's almost always betting.

Not b/fing this turn looks bad (I know I suck, but seems results oriented). Villain could easily be holding a spade here, or other crap, and letting him just check behind on turn is kind of gross.

i like a turn check because we're folding out better hands a LOT and most of the time getting punked like Fgators did when we're up against a flush.

it may seem weak, but I almost like check-calling the turn and seeing what goes down on the river. if we check the turn and the villain checks again with a queen, we are taking him to valuetown on the river. On the other hand, if we bet the turn, villain is almost always folding his queen unless he has the king or ace of spades to go with it.

Overall, I just feel like a bet too often folds out worse hands and gets action from better hands here.

to the people who think bet / folding the turn is even an option...

run some numbers. give opponent credit for a flush X% of the time. evaluate the pot odds. then try to figure if even a small Y% villain can have another hand. also consider most trips are a split. the key point is when behind hero has equity.
another thing. try to create a delicate hand range on the flop, even a predictable/straightforward opponent. then consider how hero's hand looks on the turn. ie. this means the move is to bet.

so the best line is really simple here. you bet, then you call an all in. player description and stacks etc. don't swing this to ANYTHING ELSE.

also, preflop is ok, I prefer 3betting, but I do prefer calling over folding. also, i like hero's bet sizing, i just dont like his fold.

one thing that alot of people dont understand is in general it's OK to put money in behind in poker. i do it all the time! the key is to put it in behind *correctly*.

bet/call is pretty terrible imo, its close between check/call and bet/fold, I prefer betting slightly.
