Calls

Havent posted a hand in a long time, but this was kind of weird.. Any thoughts about the hand? I have played this guy 100 200 headsup before and made some big(too big) calls, problem is I dont know if it was on this account or on other account. He seems to be playing very agressive, but I dont have a good read of him, since he has played only like 5 hands today.

Re: Calls

You sure have guts. You basically expect to see AQ, AK, KQ often enough for the call to be profitable ?
To push you off the hand and prevent you from bluffing the flush, he could even go all in with a premium pair... To me this is not a air/nuts situation, as villain could push as a bluff, though still holding something better than you...
With 1.25:1 odds, I don't see how this call could not be spewy... You need to win 44% of the time...Impossible call IMO
I have nothing against the flop call, if you have a strong read on villain. But your river call is just incredible.

Re: Calls

Thanks for the good reply, do I really need 44%? Figured it would be around 30%.

Re: Calls

problem is he could easily be bluffing with a better hand so i dont think this call is profitable in the long run

Yep totally forgot this thing and called because I assumed he couldnt be bluffing with hands that beat me.

you beat 2 hands, and neither of them bet the river.

You gotta work on poker math for a bit. You need 33% equity when villain pots it, 25% when he bets half pot. How on earth do you think you need 30% equity when he makes such a big overbet ?
I would recommend learning pot odds.

Re: Calls

the call on the river wasnt the worst part of the play. if you thought he was bluffing from the start it would have been better to raise the flop or the turn. calling on the river isnt terrible if you seriously think hes bluffing but calling on the flop is horrendous when he could easily be on a draw air which you put him on. if you really thought he was bluffing you must raise the flop or at least the turn
