Starcraft Broodwar 2+2 Tournament
 

Hi, there has been some discussion about a SC tournament but nobody has ever really taken the intiative, so I'll take a shot at it

My suggestion is:

It will be a Starcraft Broodwar (latest verson) tournament, 1on1. If people want to make it interresting we can have a "buy-in" of $1-$10 (I was thinking $10) where we send the $ on PokerStars to someone who everyone trust (I am trustworthy but I doubt anybody know me so I understand if you want somebody else to have the cash while the tournament playes out etc)

It will be played with the help of Hamachi (Internett LAN) because most people LAG on battle.net, and Hamachi is great!
The maps would be std maps who they use in Starcraft league (etc) (NO MONEYMAPS!)

If you have other suggestions please post them in this post. I will post the same tread in BBV4Life to increase interest.

And if you are interested please say it in this thread (just to see what the ineterrest are, no manditory registration etc)

What do you guys think?

will my not-legit cd key work for this tournament? cuz if so i am so there

(fwiw i have a legit copy of the game, I just lost my packaging so I used a via-google cd key lol)

I think it will work because if we use hamachi we will be playing on Lan, so we will not be running it through battle.net

Yea, this was the plan. Please spread the word so as many people as possible join this tournament.

And do you guys think we should have a "buy-in" or just play for fun? (ofc the buy in will not be so high so we do not play for fun, but if somebody use wallhack (if that still excist) just to win some $$$)
what is the perfect amount of players? 8? 16?

I'd like to play this too. I vote for free entry because it will make organizing the tournament easier.

When would people like this tournament to be held? Like this week? We could meet up on a channel on IRC to draw opponents and talk about matches and share reeplays etc

battle.net is just so [censored] laggy. Hamachi creates a Lan on the internett (so it would just be like we were all on a Lan party)

Well, if we use Bnet and someone lags? I always have a lag problem when using Bnet, and never when I use Hamchi. Dont know when this will be but as fast as possible. When do people want this to be? Early Saturday, late wednesday or what? (please use PokerStars time [img]/images/graemlins/wink.gif[/img]

if you lag, you're out of the tournament. ez.

i havent played regularly on bnet in maybe two years, but lag just isnt a problem on modern low latency connections.

Can someone make an official SC Tournament thread were people can sign up on a given day (let us say Wednesday 17:00 Pstars time) and sign up is "binding"?

I would be more inclined to play around 11pm EST on a Wednesday but a lot of people won't like that. You're most likely gonna have to do it like, Saturday at 11am EST

someone (not me) needs to take charge, pick a time, annoy people with PMs, set up irc chatroom to meet, then we all get on bnet or whatever network we want and play.

or collect money on stars and ftp for a $5 entry "commit" prize.

True.

And it's not like we have to make this work for everyone here necessarily. I think that would be nearly impossible. We can have more than one tourney if there's continued demand for them.
