$1 a hand

I was just wondering if anyone has any guesses as to about how many pros legitimately make $1 a hand or more? I'm talking about online pros of course and your guess as to how many make $1 a hand over a large sample(250k or more hands we'll say).

I'm probably capable of losing $1 a hand, need a bigger sample size to say for sure.

Anyone who averages 10bb/100 lifetime at 5/10 and above?

Edit: Or 5bb/100 at 10/20. Or 4bb/100 at 10/25. Or 2bb/100 at 25/50...

leatherass 07-15-2007 06:48 PM

Re: $1 a hand

Well a Poker Tracker BB/100 is 2x the BB. So that would be 5ptbb/100 at 5/10 for $1 a hand

This can be done live playing 20-40 limit or 2-5 no-limit. It might be possible at 15-30 limit.

too bad the 250k hand requirement means you will be 80 by the time you can call yourself a $1/hand winner

most winning 10/20 NL players will make 1$ hand.

a few 5/10 players will.

Oh come on now people. Most regular 5/10 players should be making $1/hand if they are playing 4-6 tables or less.

Now 3/6 is where making $1/hand is tough.

Uh you do know that that is 5ptbb/100 right? These aren't the old party poker days. That is a vgood win rate now.

Yes, I am well aware of win rates, ptbb, the old days, etc. It's just that it's a pet peeve of mine that people spout that a mediocre win rate is the "ceiling" of win rates, so that everyone feels like they are hot shiits that are winning as much as you can at a certain level.

jalexand42 07-15-2007 10:49 PM

Re: $1 a hand

The point is 'MOST' regulars will not win at 5 ptbb/100 at 5/10+.

Few will, and they are the best players at that level. $1/hand at 5/10 is an excellent win rate.

Re: $1 a hand

Making $1/hand live is easy.

I think a realistic level where a regular will generate $1/hand online is 40/80 limit and 10/20NL, which are roughly equivalent stakes.

Ive heard people say 30/60 or as low as 20/40, but it requires a fairly unrealistically high winrate for someone who multi tables and is willing to play in tougher games at that level. If you want to be really anal about game selection, you can probably do $1/hand as low as 5/10 limit and just wait for complete maniacs, but that's obviously not practical.

Is this live or online? Either way I would be willing to take a lot of action that this is impossible

If you've never sat at a table where 10BB/100 is possible, then you're doing something wrong.

There is a guy on AP who'se loserate is upwards of -50BB/100. In his presence, i am for sure averaging $1/hand at 5/10.

I have. I play some 10/20 though but mostly 5/10. That being said, I did have an almost 100k breakeven streak before the last ~300k hands.

uhhh didn't everyone used to run around talking about how easy it was for a decent player to make 5 ptbb/100 and then someone posted a massive datamine of partypoker games and only one player was actually doing it over a reasonable sample size at 5/10?

Equal 07-16-2007 03:17 AM

Re: $1 a hand

Anyone got a link to that?

leatherass 07-16-2007 03:33 AM

Re: $1 a hand

This is totally true. With poker as tough as it is today I can guarantee you that there are very few players with a WR of above 5ptbb/100 at 5/10 over more than 250k hands. As far as 10/20 goes. My guess is that there are less than 5. Of course if some of the real great players like Aba or Durr..etc. played 10/20 I'm sure there would be quite a few more.

Most people imo have no clue how good you have to be to beat 5/10 for 5ptbb/100. Plus it is all a bit unfair as it depends on how well you game select as well as how many tables you play. If I always picked the 2 best tables and just grinded on them I'm sure I could win around 10ptbb/100. But I 8 table and not all of my games are all that great so your WR gets crushed when that's the case.

One question for you leatherass: Are you intentionally being a douchebag by not sitting out of games when someone is playing heads up, or when people are trying to flip?

If you do this on purpose, you're a POS.

leatherass,

quit sitting in on games when both players ask you nicely to let them play hu.

Also, based on your latest blog posts, I hope for your sake you don't come crashing down to reality anytime soon.
