Romantic things to do in Vegas...

I wasn't exactly sure where I should put this, but I think I'll get the best content here...So, what are some romantic things to do in vegas other than hookers and blow. My girlfriend is coming in for a long weekend and I need a plan. I was planning on taking her to see Love since she is obsessed but I need some other good dining/drinking/seeing/doing options...

Get a reservation at Prime or Cirque at a table by the front windows. Perhaps I'm particularly susceptible to the allure of it, but I happen to think the Bellagio fountains are one of the most beautiful things ever.

The last time I was at Cirque, a guy proposed to his GF by having the chef put a diamond ring in her dessert. He got a standing O from everyone there. It was one of the coolest things I've ever witnessed.

Also, I should clarify, not everything has to be romantic, I just need a nice list of things to do with a girlfriend here.

AZK,

Cirque shows are always great.

No shortage of great restaurants, check B&M Vegas thread and the one here for tons.

Ghostbar, Foundation Room, and other lounge type places are nice places to hang out with a girl.

The pool, of course.

A room with a jacuzzi tub.

The new club (Moon) at The Palms sounds pretty cool.

Expert on this subject as I often bring the ball and chain with.

Dinners are can't miss. Find some place nice. Delmonico's is a personal romantic fave.

Spa treatments go over well. If you want to partake, get a double massage at Bellagio ($$$). If not, set her up for a full treatment (facial, pedicure, massage) and hit the poker tables in the meantime.

If you do a Cirque, go with Ka. IMHO it dwarfs all the others in terms of the wow factor.

Take her to the midway arcade at Luxor, then the Roller Coaster at NYNY. Look out for gunmen on the walkway (too soon?)

Shop at the Forum shops.

But my personal fave is just to relax in a room with a view of the strip. Order room service and Champagne, watch a movie. Set up stuff for later in the day...

QFT. I have sworn off bringing women to LV anymore - I wind up resenting them because they are keeping me from playing poker tournaments.
Took the 2nd wife to Prime BTW - nice setting, decent food, way overpriced for what you get.

Re: Romantic things to do in Vegas...

Fountains at Bellagio. GF really liked it.

Dinner at the top of the Stratosphere.
Dinner at other LV nice restaurants too like Nobu or Delmonico's or wherever....but I think the top of Stratosphere has a more romantic feel to it even if the food isn't as spectacular.
GF really liked it. Slowly spins-around as you are dining so you end up seeing the whole city.

Even just going up top to the bar could work alright I suspect if you want to do dinner somewhere else.

Night clubs or ElD's preferred lounges can both work in different ways I think and depending on your mood.

I think there's a restaurant somewhere up in the eiffel tower at the Paris where you can get dinner or just coffee and also have a good view of the Bellagio fountains. Didn't go there myself but that might be worthwhile.

Fontana Lounge has a good view of the fountains too, doesn't it?

The cheesy gondola ride in the Venetian. We didn't get to this because the lines were kind of longish when we were there. But GF wants me to take her back to LV partly just so we can do this.

We also didn't hit any of the Cirque shows or anything. But I've told her that I've read on here that supposedly they really are worthwhile so we'll probably go to O or Ka or something else upon our return (I really don't think either one of us would be interested in sitting through a really long stretch of Beatles music).

didn't get up to Fremont Street. No idea if their little light-show wha-cha-ma-thing could also qualify as 'romantic'.

ElD's recommendation of room with jacuzzi tub is a good one although would certainly be more expensive in LV I suspect.
We have done this with the mini-jacuzzi thing at the Sheraton in Tunica.
Not bad after a few hours of gambling and drinking. Light a couple candles and it feels like romance-city.

Alize is another one that we wanted to do but didn't have time to get to.
Definitely will have to remember that one.

Lots of different things to do in LV obviously.
And GF and I are just now beginning our stretch of traveling around and living 3-6 months in one place or another.
LV is on our list for a 3-6 month stay in the near future.

Should be nice just getting to some of these types of things at a more leisurely pace instead of trying to cram them all in as quickly as possible on a 4 day vacation or something.

Re: Romantic things to do in Vegas...

I'll chime in with a dining recommendation - I took the significant other to LV about 1.5 years ago and we had a great dinner at Hugo's Cellar - this is off the strip in downtown LV in the Four Queens Hotel/Casino.

Being off the strip it is probably off most people's radar, but I found the food and atmosphere just as good as any of the restaurants on the strip, and if I remember correctly it was decently priced.

Here is a link to the trip advisor review's:

Re: Romantic things to do in Vegas...

Some things I've done (or wanted to do) with my boyfriend or by myself in Vegas:

Renting a cabana at a pool.

Breakfast or brunch at Bouchon. Call ahead and get a verandah seat. I didn't make it, but Tableau at the Wynn is supposed to be just as good.

Try to get up to the Foundation Room at Mandalay Bay for sunset, or just have a drink at Mix on the 64th floor over looking the Strip.

Rent a car and drive to Red Rock for sunset. Bring a picnic or pick up some pasteries at the Bouchon bakery or the bakery in Paris.

I haven't been as pleased by it on my last few visits, but I usually split some sangria and tapas at Cafe Babareeba at Fashion Show Mall (it's on the promenade, you can watch people wandering about and see the Wynn) then go shopping, or vice versa.

Might be a bit tacky, but you could ask the hotel ahead of time to have flowers in the room or a welcome basket or something for you both.

One of the most romantic things I've ever done was to drop acid at the MGM, visit the Shark Reef at Mandalay Bay then lay on a couch in in the Bellagio down by the conference rooms, talking. We wandered around for quite some time, and ended back at the hotel room.

I think that La Reve at the Wynn has a special champagne seating. You can get luxo seats at the show, plus a bottle of champagne (god knows what kind of swill they give you for free) and chocolate covered strawberries, I think.

Failing that, a threeway is always romantic.

We might check out the club, but neither of us are really into the club scene.

I'm looking at those 2 lounges, it looks like you have to purchase 'front line' passes to ghostbar, is this for when there is a line or just in general? Do you recommend doing this?

What about foundation room, it doesn't really say anything but refers to a 'membership'.

We'll probably hit up the pool during the day, already thought of the jacuzzi but unfortunately my rio room doesn't have one. If I run good this week maybe I'll spring for a better room.

Thought of taking her to the grand canyon on a helicopter ride that all the hsnl ballers have been doing... not sure if it's going to work though... thanks for the ideas.

1. Get your casino host to arrange a gondola ride in the Bellagio fountain.

2. Helicopter ride picnic - they fly you out to Grand Canyon where there is a table and lunch and champagne setup.

3. If you are on a budget, Imperial PAlace has cheap jacuzzi rooms

I ate there tonight with my brother. The service was impeccable and I go to nice restaurants a decent amount. This was by far and away the best service I have ever had. The food was really good too. All of the recommendations in the previous delmonico threads were spot on. This place rocks. Not sure if I'll go back with my girlfriend, might try something new, but we'll see.

Interesting.
Think I might have heard of Tremezzo but wasn't aware it was in the Aladdin and overlooked the fountains.
Sounds like a good idea.

Haven't been to the Eiffel Tower restaurant either. Just had read about it in some travel guide I think and perhaps somewhere on 2+2 also.
But if Tremezzo is the more 'legit' restauarant and the view of the fountains is similar I'll definitely look into that one.

Recently, I had dinner there with my brother. He was going to arrive about 15 minutes late. They had no problem seating me, taking a drink order, and just letting me wait. No stares or busy bodying me. A small touch, but indicative of good service. The rest of the dinner, they treated us like kings.

Re: Romantic things to do in Vegas...

I was planning to take my wife to see Phantom of the Opera at the Venetian sometime during Christmas season. Seems to be a romantic enough show and a good Xmas present.

A few comments:

* What's the deal with the price of rooms at the Venetian? It's $100/night more than even the Wynn or the Bellagio. I can't imagine it's worth $350/night when I can stay at the Bellagio for $250/night, right? (I've never stayed at a nice Vegas hotel. Last two times I was at the Luxor and the Tropicana, so I'm willing to spend more, but not that much more.)

* Is there a secondary market for show tickets? I can't find any Phantom tickets at Stubhub. That worries me because, if I buy these tickets now, but can't make the show, will I be able to get a refund or get rid of the tickets?

* How's MGM Grand Signature? Hotels.com gives it a rave review. Is it as nice as Wynn/Bellagio?

I posted back in the Restaurants in LV thread I think in B&M that our experience at Delmonico's was only "better than average" imo.
The steak I had was not terrific. No, I don't remember what I ordered.

Based on everyone else's drooling for this place I wouldn't be opposed to giving it another try but we'll have a lot of other restaurants to try too when we get back out to LV again and since we've already done Delmonico's and it wasn't mind-blowingly spectacular for us I don't think it will be very high on the list.

However, Nobu is a restaurant that we already tried also, and I'm pretty sure that's going to be one of the FIRST places we hit upon our return to LV.

Delmonico's wasn't lousy in the least. But we were hardly blown-away.

I personally thought that Jubilee was very well done...i dont know if you feel comfortable taking her to a topless show though, but its mainly couples anyways and pretty upscale.
