Movies with misleading previews

I recently watched Man of the Year starring Robin Williams and it ended up being much different than the previews would have lead you to believe. I expected a comedy (obv) and while it had funny parts it wasn't a comedy, and its main plot wasn't even really shown in the previews at all.

What are some other movies like this?

The winner of this, ignoring anything to do with the quality of the movie, is Executive Decision . Steven Seagal was ALL OVER the previews, and they were easily trying to pawn it off as a Seagal film. He dies in the first ten minutes, without a single cork screw or kitchen knife to anyone's forehead.

Wow this is always my answer when questions like this come up.

He died and I was like WTF?

Thought it was cool cause I didn't see it coming at all. They should do that a lot more.

I really enjoyed the movie but I didn't know Pan's Labyrinth was so focused on the civil war. I thought it was more of a sci-fiction/fantasy type of movie.

By far the best line in Neighbors, the great Belushi/Ackroyd movie(and novel by John Berger) was only in the previews. Every one was terrifically disappointed it didn't make it into the movie. Extremely bizarre.

CLOSER is the easy winner. This was touted as a racy pic in which Natalie Portman showed her tatas. This is what a female friend told me. SHE DOES NOT SHOW HER TATAS. I was horrendously disappointed. "Closer" was like the modern version of the holocaust, or the trail of tears. Many indians died because Natalie Portman did not show teh boobiez in that stupid movie.

The recent "Bridge to Terabithia" movie had it hyped as some sort of fantasy film.

"Forget Paris", featuring the insufferable Billy Crystal, had previews which featured at least 50% NBA action, leading guys to think it would contain some basketball content. Huge cocktease, I think all the NBA stuff made it to the previews and the other two hours was a terrible chick flick, in which some dumb broad plays mind games with Billy Crystal. WTF.

Of course, my brain freezes up on me now but I saw one just other week I thought was suppose to be more of a comedy and maybe all 3 funny scenes were the preview....I remember now
Stranger than Fiction

Re: Movies with misleading previews

Stranger than Fiction was awesome imo, though not exactly a "comedy"

The Village

Makes it look like a scary movie, and it was not scary and just plain awful. Then again, so are all M Night Shmaylan's (sp) movies.

p.s. I thought executive decision was an awesome movie

In Eternal Sunshine, there are like 25 frames in which someone is smiling. The trailer was nothing but those 25 frames.

I never saw a preview for it, but I just looked one up on youtube and it didn't seem off to me. I guess it could be because I already saw the movie, but it seemed to somewhat lead into the story without giving anything away. Or maybe there is another trailer?

LOL I saw Executive Decision last week on tv.. but missed the first few minutes, apparently where Seagal was in it so I didn't realize it was what you all were talking about.

Edit: Actually to make things even better I watched Man of the Year on On Demand the day before Executive Decision came on.

I said it cause the trailer made it look like some stupid movie about guys being bored with their lives and just getting into fights with each other. Instead it was a really gripping and awesome story that was loosely based on the premise in the trailer.

I saw the movie thinking it was gonna be mindless action and wound up seeing a really interesting movie nothing like what I expected.
