TPNFD in 3 way pot, standard?

These guys had been playing HU on this table just a few minutes ago. No reads on them, except for a very vague feeling that I'd played BB before and that he was bad. I was pretty unsure of this read though. Comments on all streets please, although I know PF is probably too loose.

Bet the flop, shove over a raise is what I consider standard.

Cool. BB called with A8, UTG had 22.

Re: TPNFD in 3 way pot, standard?

this is fine

my standard is to bet flop though, and call/shove over a raise (you often have 12 outs here btw) plus you may have FE, you may be good etc

playing this hand this way usually prevents you from winning a big pot btw...

yeah shoving this flop is a terrible mistake

looks fine

Can someone explain why river fold is standard?

Sets and 2pairs bet flop always right?

you guys don't think preflop is bad?

Requin 07-05-2007 01:56 PM

Re: TPNFD in 3 way pot, standard?

They bet usually, but not always. Also 22 is a small possibility. The fact that I cold called a rr on the turn, AND that BB called, shows a ton of strength, espcially since there aren't that many draws out there.

i think folding the river is beyong terrible

jlocdog 07-05-2007 04:51 PM

Re: TPNFD in 3 way pot, standard?

Preflop may be a bit spewy but I have a soft spot for suited Aces as well because they make nut hands and pay well when they come through.

Flop I think is played perfectly. Those that say to bet/raise/shove/put your life in there....no. Not the right kind of combo draw you are looking for to gamble like that. Josh said it best. If you do get all the money in you are typically drawing to 9 outs. Bleh. Again, not all draws are created equal. People need to start recognizing this.

Turn, I like as well. If BB checked and UTG bet then I almost always raise for pure value. But with a bet and a raise, you can't go crazy. Obviously your hand is way to strong to fold and if reraised you are definetly trailing. Nice.

Just wondering what you do if BB comes over the top here on turn...

River, I don't think I could fold. But I saw results so nice one

This was my first thought; but it depends on how often UTG is going to be bluffing this river after his turn raise gets called in two spots. I don't think he's doing it very often and he's never value betting AQ here.

FWIW I agree about the flop bet/shove.

Yah, and also almost no FE when you shove over a check-raise.

i don't remember the thread but i think DJ sensai started asking the question in a thread four or six months ago, it was just about checking behind here or whatever.

Re: TPNFD in 3 way pot, standard?

btw looking at the logisitcs of this, first thing is that pfr checked, meaning he'll almost never CR you bc it's so beyond standard for him to lead this flop with anything storopng- anyways, you bet this flop, he can CC you with worse, you can get CR by the cold caller with draws that you CRUSH, equity wise. also, i bet this flop like 86% time when checked to (maybe more) so it would go hand in hand with my gf shania and this is prolly near the top of my range when checked to

what do you guys do if BB shoves the turn and UTG folds? Easy call getting more than 2-1?

2:1 on the turn with what appears to be a naked flushdraw? nnnnn

DJ Sensei 07-05-2007 11:28 PM

Re: TPNFD in 3 way pot, standard?

at first i thought call river would be better, but since you coldcalled on the turn without any kind of odds for a naked drawing hand, and he's still firing, i think the river fold is solid.

flop checkbehind is good, anybody who says otherwise needs to check themselves.
