Anyone know of the cheapest rooms in Vegas on or close to the Strip? Is there a website, like expedia, that would be best to go through?

I prefer downtown and have stayed at the vegas club for $25 per night.

Circus Circus and Stratosphere are two of the cheaper hotels on the Strip. The hotels are even cheaper downtown.

Depending on the time of the year, they can be as cheap as $30 a night.

That is hard to say it varies bye week and day try lasvegas advisor .com they compare about 6 websites prices you should be able to find a room there for the best rate be prepared to pay 150+ on most fri and saturday nights

The problem with the Stratosphere, Circus Circus and Downtown is that you have to rent a car or pay and wait for cabs/buses. That pretty much cancels out the hotel savings.

But you do have mobility then. I stayed at the strat and rented wheels and liked it.

You can rent an economy car for about $18/day, which is a good idea if you plan on doing alot of sightseeing.

I like the IP for location, if you are gonna get a rental, then the Palace Station is pretty cheap..

tip a hotel bathroom attendant on the overnight shift a 5 spot to let you sleep in the toilet stall and use the sink to shave and wash your ass crack with wet paper towels

Cheapest on strip rooms in the area of Wynn to MB are Casino Royale and possibly Trop and IP. Also include Hooters as it is very close to MGM. If you include walkable to center or south strip, Wild Wild West and Golden Palm are walkable. CR and IP are under $50 weekdays. GP and WWW are as low as $20-30 weekdays. Weekends are substantially more. FWIW discounts can be had at Orleans with weekdays sometimes as low as $35 on their mailing list. Orleans is leaps and bounds better than any of these places.

Cheapest CASINO rooms on a regular basis are the "vintage" rooms at El Cortez, Western, Gold Spike, and possibly Vegas club. Most of these are ~25-30 a night weeknights, with some as low as $19 a night. Weekends are $35+

Not that I recommend staying at any of the above.

check www.i4vegas.com www.tripres.com and www.travelworm.com these sites deal almost exclusively with vegas hotels. I have gotten some great deals through them.

check lasvegasadvisor they compare about fiv sites 14 and travelworm included. most of the time travelworm seems to have the best prices.

Cheapest rooms are at Binions, but call and tell them that you are a poker player. I played for 8 hours and was comped my room on a tuesday.

Circus Circus $23.95 per night (end of strip)

Las Vegas Club $24.95 per night (downtown)

circus circus is madd far away, yo. so you would lose maybe an average of 20 minutes each way waiting for and riding on a bus. (bus is $2 each way or $5 for 24hours.) that same bus runs up to downtown/binions/elcortez area. if you stay at wild wild west, you gonna get stabbed. plus youd have to bus to the strip anyway, unless you want to walk, but if you walk during the day, you gonna get sunburned and exhausted, and if you walk at night, again, you gonna get stabbed.

Yep, pretty decent too. I'm looking at going in September and the rates there are $46 plus tax per night(Sunday-Thursday) on Travelworm. You can't beat that rate at that prime location.

In addition to my post on Casino Royal above, check out the Sahara on sites like Travelworm and Vegas.com. They typically run in the lower 40's per night(Sunday-Thursday) and there is a monorail stop there which makes it really convenient.

"Death of the $16 room at the Western

The Western is my favorite casino in the whole world. Why? Because it's CHEAP! And it's DANGEROUS! You can't have one without the other. And you've got to expect that when you have $1 blackjack and $0.25 roulette in an unclean, stinky building with blazing fluorescent lighting in the middle of a crack neighborhood that it's not gonna be Utopia. Two guys tailed me out of there when I left one night, probably trying to nab the $67 they saw me win. Fortunately I noticed them and got back into a public area before anything bad happened.

For years, my favorite deal was the $16 room at The Western (downtown), the sleaziest and most dangerous casino in all of Vegas. I took advantege of a $16 room there as late as 2001. It was $16 even on the weekends! However, by 2007 the price has gone up to $35/night weekday and $55/night weekends. The Western's sister casino in sleaze, the Gold Spike, has the same rates. (Last verified: Jan. 2007)

Obviously you don't get luxury even at the new improved rates, but if you just need a place to sleep, and you're not easily intimidated by shady characters, this is it. The Western redefines sleaze. But that's one of the reasons we find it so charming. When in Vegas we've never missed an opportunity to play $1 blackjack in a dump that's the exact opposite of Bellagio. Here's the hilarity that ensued when we tried to make a reservation by phon. We enjoyed the humorous writeup about The Western in Las Vegas on $19 a day."

If dangerous thrills aren't your idea of a good time, then you might like the Western's sister casino, the Gold Spike. The rooms there are pricier -- $25 week nights and $30 on the weekends -- but what do you expect in exchange for not having to politely decline the opportunity to buy large quantities of narcotics as you walk to your hotel? I don't like this place as much because the casino is a lot smaller, it's dimly lit (compared to the Western's blazing fluorescents), and it's not as dangerous.

A friend has a funny story about the Western. He doesn't want to be identified so let's just say his initials are W.I.Z. He had a coupon for a free breakfast at the Gold Spike which he wasn't planning on using. As he was walking out the door a homeless guy asked him for money to get something to eat, so W. offered him the coupon. The homeless guy looked at it and said, "Forget it, I ain't *that* hungry."
