Southern girls

Got into a discussion with some of my friends last night, all of us single cuz hounds, and we got to talking that chicks now arent like they were 50 years ago obv, its tough to find a girl that can even cook a meal better than I can. then one of them said we should all move to the south, becuase girls down there know how to take care of their men.

and listen, I dont want a long discussion on how sexist Im being, as well, I dont give a [censored]. I just want a rundown of different areas of teh country, and a generalization on what the women are like in this regard

I would gladly stay home to cook and clean.

And I'm a damn good cook, too.

Born and raised GA girl.

how bad is your accent though?

Im mean, thats the trade off some of us w/ non-regional dialects may not be willing to do.

Re: Southern girls

I actually have basically 0% southern accent. I do say "y'all", but that's it.

Re: Southern girls

A lot of girls in my home town say it's their "calling" to be housewives - cook, clean, raise the kids.

A lot of them are skanks or meth heads though.

I think there are plenty of chicks that still have a strong domestic drive. However it seems like they don't want it right now, but rather think that's what they should do down the line.

I'm of the belief that if a girl can't cook, she can still redeem herself with great BJs [img]/images/graemlins/smile.gif[/img]

guids 07-02-2007 07:53 PM

Re: Southern girls

A good cook > good BJs.

and ya, I agree perg, teh ones who say that they just want to settle down, and be a housewife, are usually teh ones that I see as the ones that would be farthest from a good housewife (party hard, sleep around, dont even know what a spatula is). Therefore Im kind of soured and just think that most of them are looking for a free ride, hence why I wondered if aroudn other parts of the country are different.

Re: Southern girls

I dunno, I've never lived there, but when I was working in the bakery with a bunch of masshole degens, one guy had just married a woman from Arkansas a couple years earlier. She was pretty for her age (early 40s I believe), a great cook, and willing to do anything to make her man happy. I was at a BBQ at the guy's house, and before I even met her formally, she came up and gave me a big hug from behind and said, "this must be Colin!", almost flirtatiously. Then she got me a hot dog and a soda. At first I was uncomfortable, but then the husband slapped me on the shoulder and said, "see? I told you my wife was awesome, bro."

Re: Southern girls

Southern girls are way overrated imo.
The accent is awful and the southern-hospitality rep is not deserved.
The women in this region did not impress me in the slightest.
No big coincidence that the girl I ended up with in my time here also happens to be one of the few girls I met who is not originally from here.

I live in Memphis but have travelled around Mississippi, Alabama, Tennessee, Louisiana, Florida.

I can imagine things might be different in bigger cities like Atlanta or Houston though but based on the pic that guids is showing he might be thinking more towards country-southern instead of Big City-Southern.

you guys are getting a little confused. most of these girls that specifically go out and look for a husband are looking for a meal ticket, and genuinely will not enjoy "traditional" housewife duties, Im looking for a girl who actually does. Hell, Im looking for a chick that wants to make ME a housewife. I wouldnt mind cooking and cleaning and not working.

I've lived in Atlanta now for 9 years (and before that 7 years in N. Carolina). The Southern hospitality thing is overblown. I'm from the Midwest originally and think Midwest girls are more apt to "take care of their man" and stand by their man more than a Southern girl.

bobman - I suspect you are correct that a sampling of NC, SC, VA and GA could yield different results.

ligastar - exactly. Totally overblown and way nicer people in general in the midwest.
Our opinion is that many southern people are some of the rudest we have ever met.

Head up north towards the midwest and upper-midwest (OH, IN, IL, IA, WI, MI) and they are generally some of the nicest people anywhere imo.

Hot southern girl #2: Oh my gosh, are you serious? They think that? That's so messed up!

Hot southern girl #1: I know!

Hot southern girl #2: But I really do love to cook... And [censored].

Hot southern girl #1: I know... Me too.

Re: Southern girls

I lived in Texas for about 10 years, and there is definitely a big portion of the population that's on the old Southern Rules. That basically means male dominance, saying sir and ma'am, respect for your elders, the wife always supports her man and stays submissive in public, the wife better take care of the house, the man better well open doors for her, etc.

I dated a girl who was from a totally old school family, and our first few dates consisted of sitting with her family in the parlours.

I get the impression that foreign women are the best these days if you really want a "housewife".

ps. most of the girls who claim they "can cook" have no idea what food is supposed to taste like. If they just clean up I'm happy.

in texas...

'southern' girls often mean: harder to hit, high maintenance, picky, etc.

rarely does 'southern' mean what you want it to mean: loving, sweet, wants to take care of her man, etc.

i've met very few of the ladder. very few. however, i'm sure in smaller towns they are more abundant.

but i'd take a southern girl over a joysey girl anyday of the week.

I'm from Jersey and have dealt with plenty of Jersey girls. Jersey girls are slutty, but they are also total bitches. Southern girls can be slutty as well, but they are nicer and definitely less maintenance (if we're talking about non-rich southern girls).

Re: Southern girls

Born and raised in Alabama...as southern as you get. I will make 2 comments and happily answer any questions as unbiased as possible.

1) I don't know what you're all defining as a southern accent. I have somewhat of an accent, but I speak correct English. It's the southern colloqialisms that even I can't stand.

2) Girls here, I imagine, are like girls everywhere else, but probably hotter. Some are pretty independent, stay single longer, and aren't like guids is describing. Other girls, especially in very rural areas, have the ambition of graduating high school, marrying a redneck bluecollar type, and popping out a few kids before she's 30. I would say, just guessing, that the median age for female marriage is probably lower in the south than other parts of the country.

I'm 36 so I might have come up at a different time than you. I'm talking PA (not technically the Midwest I guess), OH, IN, WI and MN. Places I lived when I was younger (grew up in OH, IN folks still live in OH...folks moved to MN when I was in college in N.C.).

IMHO Midwestern girls are more apt to look after their man.

Re: Southern girls

guids,

I have a feeling that part of the reason you can't find a
woman who will treat you right" is your approach towards finding women.

You seem to be more of an alpha male who would rather [censored] more chicks vs finding a chick and staying with her.

The chicks who want this type of dude are chicks who go out clubbing, drinking, smoking, etc.

If you want to find a good girl you probably aren't going to find her where you find all the women you sex up.

I'm sure there are plenty of respectful, caring, nurturing women all over the country.

Just a thought.
