Your first Eagle...

For me, it was a par 5 at Harbor Links Golf Course. I was in high school and had a nice drive, solid second shot with the 5-wood to about 30 yards of the green, then a beautiful chip in.

Curious if you guys remember your first time...

Re: Your first Eagle...

Not that difficult, only had one.

280 par 4, uphill. Decent drive to middle of fairway, a soft wedge to the green about 70 out, one in my group said that looks good just after I hit it, and it was. Passing the next tee on the way to the green, I could just leave my golfbag there, didn't have to bring the putter. Nothing left to do for me on that hole than to pick up the ball from the cup and mind the flag for the rest.

Won a bottle of Fernet Branca, which I got about 6 months later as one of the sponsors, a golf magasine, went bankrupt. The importer of Fernet Branca had to wait 4-5 months to get the list of the eagles made due to the court had to finish the procedings after the bankruptsy.

Re: Your first Eagle...

My first came on the first hole, a 300 yard par 4. I drove to about 5 paces off the green, for about a 20 yard chip. I knew it was perfect when I hit it, lucky that it dropped. Great part of the story is I birdie the next hole, 140 yard par 3. I was -3 on the third while being about a 15-20 handicap! I finished with my best round ever of 87 on a 70, just to tell you how bad I am at golf.

My first one was on a 520 yard par 5 at a course at home. I hit Driver then 3 iron to 8 feet and drained the putt...

I have had many attempts on a 490 yrd par 5 at a course I play in Raleigh but I have just not made the putts...one of these days i will

On in two on a 490yd par 5. Easily a 70 foot putt with 35 feet of break and a foursome consisting of 3 relatives as witnesses.
Was also the second time I broke 80 (40-38--78)

#11 Pine Hills Golf Course Northeast Pa.

115 yard par 3 STRAIGHT down hill.

I scuff the tee shot it never leaves the ground. Rolls all the way down the hill hits the pin and goes in. Hole in One eagle.

I suck at golf and point out that I have a hole in one to all the donkeys who shoot 30's etc and never had one

Dogleg left par 4, took a 5 wood over the trees left it about 3' from hole.

Putted it in.

edit: my first and only eagle.

Par 3 straight up a hill about 130 yards. Hit and 8 iron and knew it was good as soon as i hit it. Couldnt see the ball drop because of the hill but could see some part of the ball. Walked up and found it wedged between the side of the hole and the pin.

Re: Your first Eagle...

Short par 5 when I was a kid. I hit a 4 wood that was dead on line and stopped about 6 inches short of the hole. Closest I have come to double eagle, and it was the kind of putt you want for your first eagle. last time I played the course they turned the hole into a par 4. Oh well, I'll take them any way I can get them.

Re: Your first Eagle...

14th hole. 510 yard par-5. 119 yards, uphill 9-iron with a lucky bounce off the fringe rolls right into the cup for 3!

The best thing was this was the first round I ever broke 80. Up and down from the bunker on 18 for a 79!

Re: Your first Eagle...

Just happened across the Golf forum ... No idea when my first eagle was, but my best "eagle" moment was making an 8-footer on a par-5, then driving the fringe of the next hole, a par-4, and chipping in for back to back eagles ...

I've also seen, get this, a guy putting for double eagle ... 610-yd par 6 at my home course (really a par 5, though, but because of the setup, it'd be a DEFINITE 3-shot par 5) ... Club championship, this guy who, when playing with the pro, drove our 435-yd par 4, goes over the pond on this par 6 drive (never seen anyone do that) ... Then, from about 250, hits an 5-wood into the smack dab middle of the green ... 40-footer for "double-eagle" ends up 20 feet short ... Eagle putt 10 feet short, birdie putt 5 feet past ... Nice par putt, though ... I hit 5-wood, 5-wood, 8-iron, two putt for bidie and pick up a stroke on him LOL ...

I've played for 25 years, have tons of eagles, but not THE one I want (hole-in-one) ... Never will ...

320 yard par 4 dogleg right, I hit 3w off the tee about 220, to the left rough, leaving about 105. Hit 52* and hole it out. Witnessed by the ranger and the cart girl, too.

160 yd Par 3, I was in 8th grade and we were having golf practice for the junior high team after school. I was a terrible golfer back then and still am not that great but I hit a perfect shot towards the pin, hit right on the fringe and rolled into the hole. The best thing about it was that I probably had about 10 witnesses because it was on hole #3 at my home course which is right in front of the clubhouse. My first and only eagle as of now.

A had a couple in high school, but this was my first as an "adult." Came about 10 years ago at Angel Park (Las Vegas), Mountain Course, No. 17.

Downwind from the blue tees. Hit two mediocre shots to about 95 yards. Holed a sand wedge. Probably the longest shot I've ever holed out.

Re: Your first Eagle...

I can't remember. I've had quite a few. I do remember by first eagle on a par 4. That was playing alone on my home course in CA and dunking it from about 120 yards out. Was exciting and yet depressing because nobody was there to see it.

How about this for a Par 5 story. My first and only Birdie after hitting my tee-shot in the water.

Not a very long Par 5 I think about 470. Water all the way down the right hand side with the fairway sloping towards the water. Hit a good drive, but it fades right into the water. Drop and have about 200 yards in. Over water still btw. Hit a 4-iron about 6 feet from the hole and make the putt. As I'm walking off the green I realize, [censored]!, if I hadn't hit my tee-shot in the water that would have been an eagle!

Jeffersonville Golf Club #16 Par 4, about 400, drive was perfect, and a chip in from 50, it was the loudest, i ever heard a ball drop in. Awesome.

Bittersweet Golf Club... Fathers Day 2003 with the old man.

Drive 300 down the middle, five iron from 205 misses right, hits cart path, flop a wedge over a bunker land on green and watch ball turn 12 feet right to left, slows as is approaches pin and drops with maybe one roll left in it.

Eagle was cool, having Dad there was better.

Re: Your first Eagle...

Driver to 150, 7 iron into middle of hole on par 4.

I got my first hole in one about 2 months ago. Pin in the very back, 215 yards, into the wind.......blade 5 wood skips in rough 3 times while slicing, rolls too fast, hits the pin hard, goes in. ship it. And i had probably hit the pin/lipped out about 10 holes in one and then that is my first. Also, I was using a lady precept.

Lady Precept are one of the best golf balls that can be played.
They are more forgiving then any golf ball I have used.
But I still use PRO V1's just because I am a balla.

Never used a card protector. They're a lame and unnecessary accessory.

Par 3, 219 yards with a three wood. Only one other "legitimate" eagle: Chip in on a 520 yd par 5. Three "bastard" eagles: 240 yd par 4 (chip from 20 feet), 410 yd par 5 (8 foot putt), 420 yard par 5 (3 foot putt).

Re: Your first Eagle...

I was 13 at my local goat ranch, really short par 5, 476 yds. Hit a drive as good as I could hit it, rolled forever, then demolished a 3 wood that probably flew 160 and rolled 75. Was the first time I hit it on any par 5 in two, and I had like a 60 footer and knocked it in. Tripled the next hole obviously.

Re: Your first Eagle...

I've been trying to remember when my first eagle was since this thread started. I still can't remember which one was my first.

A) 480 yard par 5, slightly downhill drive that catches a second downhill slop around 240 off the tee, with a ravine short of the green. I hit a decent drive that was kind of popped up but carried far enough to get a good bounce, then a 4 iron to the left fringe, chipped it in.

B) 340 yard par 4, VERY downhill. Hit a drive toward the green that stopped next to a greenside bunker, then a lob shot over the bunker that rolled in.

These were both when I was 17/18, haven't had any others.

THE LADY is a fine golf ball actually. I heard one time from someone who probably is correct that is actually the exact same ball as a good nike ball with just a different label.

I don't mind using it at all b/c i have no real issues with my sexuality or anything, but still, am i supposed to like frame it and be like LADY PRECEPT HOLE IN 1?

First eagle was at a short Par 5 on my home course (420 or so, doglegs over water). Hit a drive to 180 or so out, stuck a 5 iron to about 3 feet and tapped in.

my one and only eagle is when i got a hole in one on a par 3. cool thing was that it was during a high school golf tournament and it was backed up a little bit so there were a lot of ppl watching me from behind the teebox. everyone went wild....good times.

I played a league there several years ago (always on the back). Had a 39 average, and my stroke average on that stupid hole was the highest of any other hole. Only had 1 par on it all year. Talk about a hole having my number!!!

First eagle? 480 yd par 5. Downhill on a rock hard course. Driver-9 iron to 20 ft. In goes the putt.

I'm playing this course today, though I hate the mat they have set up on the tee box on that hole right now. I do have an eagle on every par five on that course.

I have been killing myself trying to remember my first one. I think it was nothing spectacular, something like driver, 5 wood into a par five and make the putt. Still no hole in ones though.

Re: Your first Eagle...

Garrison Golf Club, 1st hole, 367 yard par 4. Drove it into the right rough to about 140 yards. Got a 7-iron to fly over trouble and land on the green, then watched the ball funnel back down to the hole and drop.

My only other one was a hole in one. The closest I've ever come besides those is missing a 20-footer for eagle on a 450-yard par 5 (driver/5-wood to the green).

Re: Your first Eagle...

Don't remember my first real one (eagled a par 5 with a temp green, so it didn't play the full yardage for my first one).

Last weekend I drove it pin high with a 3 wood on a 315 yd par 4, then chipped it in. One before that was solid and one of the best holes I've played in a while--long 540 yd par 5 dogleg right. Perfect drive, still couldn't see the pin, shaped a beautiful 5-iron around the dogleg to 5 feet, drained it.

Finished that round birdie-eagle-birdie-par 3-3-3-3, definitely the best closing 5 holes of my life. (I'm a 4 hdcp.)

Re: Your first Eagle...

had my first one today. very short par 5, 441 yards straight ahead. hit driver, 4 iron to about 20 feet, then made a putt with about a 5 foot left to right break. Felt pretty good, then proceeded to shoot a 41 (ugh) with a birdie on the last hole. Lots of doubles in there
