St. Louis Poker
Have not been in St. Louis for a few years.
I would like to play medium stakes limit poker ($15-30 to $30-$60). Will this be possible. If yes where and when? Thanks in advance |
Re: St. Louis Poker
It will be difficult to find those stakes just because of the silly loss limit law (that was very nearly repealed this year by the legislature).
However, on weekends, there's a decent chance that you'll run into some games that are above the typical low limits. Ameristar in St. Charles tends to offer the widest array of limit games. Harrahs (almost right across the Missouri River from Ameristar) tends to run more no-limit and 3-6 limit games, although I'd check it out as well since it is a nice room. |

[/ QUOTE ] The only reason it survived was because gambling opponents were able to jack up the casino tax high enough in the bill that the casinos withdrew their support of the repeal. The casinos agreed to increase the rate, but not to that level. Still, I don't think the limit is long for this world. More casinos (and thus more political power in the gaming industry) are sprouting up in the state, and Kansas will be opening a major casino in Kansas City, Kansas in the next couple of years. That will be two bordering states that offer unlimited gambling to draw high rollers away from Missouri. |

Re: St. Louis Poker
20-40 runs at harrahs with a 1/2 kill+ rock at harrahs on fri and sun
30-60 w 1/2 kill and rock on wed nights at harrahs most the locals have pumpkins ($500 chips) that you can swap for in the restrooms just ask if you need a reload not to mention they have "over buttons", that alot of the players will use if u want to play bigger |

Plus, there's a greater impetus now with the Kansas casino going up. It won't be easy, but it will fall eventually. [ QUOTE ] Man they have some stupid gambling laws. They apparently feel the best way to test someone's sobriety is to watch them pull money out of their pockets. |
Re: St. Louis Poker
Ameristar is by far your best bet, try to get in good w/ some of the reg so they will sell you chips. Come by and visit St. Louies Room at Presidents Casino on the water.

Re: St. Louis Poker
I don't know anything about $15-30 but if you are playing at Harrah's and sit to the right, near the cage, the showgirls from Ibar run back and forth from the dressing room to the stage.

Re: St. Louis Poker
It sounds like you're looking for limit action so you'll want to head to the Ameristar in St. Charles.
Here's one small piece of advice on circumventing the problem of the loss limit. You can only buy in for 500 per 2 hour block. I.e. you can buy in for 500 between 12noon and 2 p.m. And you can buy in for 500 between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. So if you want to play the 20/40 game show up near the end of one of those two hour blocks and buy in for 500 then head back to the cashier a few minutes later during the next block and rebuy. Also, after your first visit just color up your chips to blacks and keep them in your pocket for the next time you roll in. Best, Bill |
Re: St. Louis Poker

Sat in a 4/8 limit game and booked a $165 win in 2.5 hours (right after seeing the Cardinals beat the Royals in the 14th). That was one scary room, but also some really sucky players. NCAces |
