NL100, Turned a set, facing possible trouble

Table is fishy, (Im talking VPIP's 50+ all around) Villain is 52/19/0.8 and has been running well/showing down good hands and getting paid off by the numerous calling stations at the table to build his stack.

Turn card looks like a lifesaver, until his lead into me, which threw me off a little. What do we do now?

The only hand that beats you is 89. He could've hit two pair, a flush draw...Given that you're 200BB deep, I'd probably call and see what he does on the river. Raising isn't horrible though...But it might be ugly. I'd call because I'd want pot control.

set vs a fish, if we are in control of the pot we really want to escalate it not diminish it. Raise it up to 65-70.

With so many possible scare cards for the river, would you not consider a raise here to possibly protect against flushes/straights, or at least get the money in before one of these cards could scare away some action?

Because there are a significant more drawing hands/two pair hands than anything else? Yeah, I see it.

Ok, so I decide to raise (too little?), and he Insta-shoves. Are we ahead enough times here to call this, or is this a fold?

plus do you really think he called preflop with 89, think AJs (clubs) is much more likely. I think he has 2 pair, or a pair and a draw thats my gut. What about you guys?

Re: NL100, Turned a set, facing possible trouble

looooooool, of course he could have called 89 preflop.

if you're facing trouble, it's probably because you're playing on river stars and the river has not been dealt yet.

I'd be getting my money in as I think you're ahead more often that not but why has noone considered TT or JJ, surely they are a possibility?

Of course he could have 89 but this guy also probably thinks AJ is the nuts. All in every time.
