Folding AK to a 3bet

Full Tilt Poker - No Limit Hold'em Cash Game - $0.25/$0.50 Blinds - 6 Players - (LegoPoker HH Converter)

SB: $44.25
BB: $51.25
Hero (UTG): $67.60
MP: $182.30
CO: $110.65
BTN: $43.75

Reads: Villain is 26/8/0.75 over 61, in other words a pretty passive fish.

I have been running 20/19/oo

Preflop: Hero is dealt A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] K[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (6 Players)

Uncalled bet of $5.00 returned to CO

This is standard against this opponent, right?

With your read I think you can let this go. We're hoping for AJs/AQ here, plus you're OOP.

Extremely standard.

I don't understand this. Those are just some stats over a small sample. Don't you think villain could have more than just AA/KK/QQ/AK? I know it sucks to be oop with a hand that misses most of the time, but isn't that still a call?

I'd 4bet before I flat called.

I'm going to challenge the wisdom on this.

Hand 1: 55.416% 49.45% 05.96% 71974581 8681678.50 { AsKh }

That's the top 8% of hands, which is his raising range. We are still ahead of it, and he is probably raising even a little wider, seeing as he is the first player in in the CO. We will be OOP, but if the player is bad, we can still outplay him post flop. I say this is a call.

Re: Folding AK to a 3bet

4-bet or fold. Problem with AK is when an A or K flops, your probably only getting action when your beat. Assuming a weaker Ace is not in his range.

Re: Folding AK to a 3bet

If we consider villian's range to be the top 12% of hands, which it very well could be, folding is even more criminal. We're way ahead of his range and he probably sucks postflop. Why are we folding again?

ah, there we go. i should have caught that. Raising range =/= 3-bet range. Problem solved.

These numbers are more relevant. fold.

Easy easy fold. I've been looking to muck AK in spots like this and this is the perfect example.

fwiw Fiksdal I think all your strat posts are excellent, keep it up man

i like this thinking. There are a lot of hands in the top 8 percent but not all of them necessarily 3-bet preflop and as said before not all of them give you action if an A or K flops.

EDIT: sorry didnt read the new stove numbers. somehow missed the second page so my post is kind of repetitive.
