NEW Poker After Dark airs June 11
Starting June 11, there will be three consecutive weeks of new shows.
The first new week is WSOP Main Event Champs Week -- Three members of the "new" guard - Gold, Hachem, and Raymer Three members of the "old" guard - Seed, Brunson, and Chan |
Re: NEW Poker After Dark airs June 11
I like Seed to win this one. He looked so good in the very first set of shows.
I wish they could've put Carlos or Jesus (or even Moneymaker) in place of that first guy on the list. |

[/ QUOTE ] I know first impressions are often tough to change, but Jamie does seem like a bit of a different person since his Main Event run. In all the interviews of him that I've seen in the last few months, he's quite humble. Take that for what it's worth, but I do think he's changed his tune and realized some of the errors he made last summer. |
Re: NEW Poker After Dark airs June 11
Really? Joe Hachem's leading by that much?
|
Re: NEW Poker After Dark airs June 11
I'd say that out of all the main event winners over the last 5 years, that Joe Hacham has to be the most consistent player around out of the bunch (just a personal opinion). I'm not at all surprised to see him out there in front.

Re: NEW Poker After Dark airs June 11
Huck knows this format really well; I think he has an edge, as does Johnny Chan. I don't think Doyle cares enough, I'm sure Gold isn't good enough, and Raymer and Hachem should perform well and they have a shot, but I'm looking towards Huck or Johnny.

Re: NEW Poker After Dark airs June 11
How old is seed? I mean he looks like 25, but he won the ME 11 years ago?
My 2 cents: Jamie, Joe, Greg = good tv; doyle (looks tired), huck (too stoned), and chan (too quiet) = bad tv. |
Re: NEW Poker After Dark airs June 11
huck seed by a mile.
guy plays medium stake SNGs on FT all the time, and is one of the best there (was second on FT tourney leader board) close second is Joe |
Re: NEW Poker After Dark airs June 11
I put Chan, but I wouldn't be surprised if Raymer won it.
|
Re: NEW Poker After Dark airs June 11
i think the top two vote-getters are the right ones. i'd be pretty surprised if someone other than seed or hachem wins

I'd love to see him win this, but he never seems to win on TV, which I hate. I think he won one of the preliminary rounds in Poker Superstars III, but that hardly counts. |
Re: NEW Poker After Dark airs June 11
I think Hachem has the advantage. His style suits the format of the show, where you have a couple of slow level where you just have to maintain or slightly build your stack, and then you turbo 15 minute levels at the end, to make the show end on time. Hachem has the best sense of when to play tight, and when to open up.
Of all the other players, Seed and Chan also have a good shot. Gold and Raymer are too aggressive for the format, and they'd need to get really lucky. I don't even know why Doyle bothers showing up. |
Re: NEW Poker After Dark airs June 11
So how come NBC's web site has Chris Moneymaker, Jamie Gold, Johnny Chan, Chris Ferguson, Doyle Brunson, and Carlos Mortensen as playing?

Cloutier the other day, and he said that he thinks Hachem is by far the best player out of the last 5 world champions. He said Raymer is pretty good, but Hachem is really a world class player. He didn't think much of the others, which certainly isn't surprising. |

Huck Seed. He has the kind of patient game that favors these shootouts.

Re: NEW Poker After Dark airs June 11
I'd put Hachem in front, guy has done amazing things these past few years.
Out of curiosity, hardly anyone is mentioning Johnny Chan (including me), what happened? Isn't he one of the best players in the world? Has that changed recently/why? |

Re: NEW Poker After Dark airs June 11
I am sick of Hachem's attitude whenever I see him on TV. He is terrified of varaiance and acts like he runs bad. No one who ever wins the WSOP main event should act like that.

Dolly will fall asleep in his chair. Huck to take it home.

Re: NEW Poker After Dark airs June 11
Amazing news for Canadians! Rogers Sportsnet(Canada) is now showing PAD before the US broadcast. They usually air at 4pm eastern and then are repeated several times throughout the day and early morning. Thank you Sportsnet!!!
Shana looks hot in her black cocktail dress and long, flat, blonde hair style and what looks like a belly (is she preggers, or was it just the angle of the camera?). So far, at least Ali is not interrupting the players, and Raymer is helpful at times for getting the others to talk. Tune to ch #406 (Sportsnet Pacific) right now to watch it! First time I'm thrilled to have access to Canadian tv. No more 3:30 am wake-up times for me! |
Re: NEW Poker After Dark airs June 11
At the end of the show, when Shana walked sideways, her belly looked normal, and her love melons didn't look enlarged, so it must have been the opening camera angle that made her look a bit chunky. Nice hair Shana.

Re: NEW Poker After Dark airs June 11
Tonight's new episode was okay. There were some good and bad laydowns, and there was enough table talk to keep it interesting. Certainly not as boring as week #1 or Ladies week, although that's not saying much. Why they still insist on using cash, is beyond me.
The main problem with tonight's episode was that they often had more than one story being told at the same time, so some were cut off in the middle. When Hachem started telling Gold his story about having pocket kings vs someone else's pocket aces in another tournament, I never got to hear the punchline, because Doyle started talking to Chan. It sounded like a good story and I'm hoping one of you guys has heard the story before on another show. The guy with the aces asks to take a picture with Hachem, and somehow Hachem fooled him into thinking he had lost, or something like that? I still think Shana looks like she put on some weight over the break, unless it's just her dress, or perhaps she's bloated. Her arms also seem a bit fat although she's still slim enough and probably just eating well. However, if she later announces that she's pregnant, I wouldn't be surprised. I also like her new Tara Conner (former Miss USA) hairstyle. Since I assume most of you would rather read about some of the other table talk AFTER you've seen the show, I'll highlight it in white as a spoiler. This is the only time I'll post before 3am about new PAD episodes, but as this is the first time I've ever seen a US poker show before it aired in the US, I couldn't resist this time. SPOILER table talk: Raymer told Huck Seed that he recently played golf against Gavin Smith, for 1 million dollars a hole. He only beat Gavin on one hole, so Gavin still owed him a million dollars. Huck asked what the catch was, and Raymer told him that the one provision was that the loser only had to pay up once he had a net worth of 100 million. Raymer also said he was hoping Gavin hits it big or might inherit a lot of money from a rich relative so he could collect the million one day. Raymer later told the same story to Hachem who also immediately asked what the catch was. Raymer also talked a bit about a court case. Doyle asked if it was a North Carolina ruling. Raymer said that the state had a witness that saw a hand on tv, where Hellmuth was a 91% favorite and lost; so obviously skill can't overcome luck. Doyle then said he could convince anybody that it's a game of skill. Later on, Doyle's phone rang with the Godfather theme, but nobody laughed. He answered and said that he was in a poker tournament, and hung up. By the way, Shana IS pregnant...with my child. Now you know the real reason why I had to use the spoiler alert. |
Re: NEW Poker After Dark airs June 11
Gold was getting rocked.
|
Re: NEW Poker After Dark airs June 11
hahahhah Gold only solidified his reputation as a lucky donk this episode.
Funniest part was at the end when Shana asked Johnny Chan what it was like to play against the guy he mentored, Jamie Gold, and he said "It's like taking candy from a baby" HAHAHA so classic. |
Re: NEW Poker After Dark airs June 11
gold gets owned
huck plays tight sng style everyone is making their moves against gold |

Gold was getting rocked. [/ QUOTE ] No surprise there. You would think being outclassed he would play tight and play in big pots. Or at least do this after he has a loose image. Gold did this in the last one where he kept playing loose. Why not adjust and tighten up? |
Re: NEW Poker After Dark airs June 11
Gold is such a joke. He is getting some bad cards but pretty much just getting outplayed. I like Chan saying that playing with Gold is like "taking candy from a baby" haha
|
Re: NEW Poker After Dark airs June 11
I notice they changed the chips. I can actually tell what they're betting now without having to remember which chips are which.
