It's definitely true (Brodie wouldn't make it up), and beyond ridiculous--offensive.

I first gambled in Las Vegas in 1974. My parents started going there in 1953. I haven't been back since 1990. This is one reason why. The mob ran Las Vegas much better than the corporations.
Brodie should call and seek permission to play in the WSOP only.

That makes little sense. I guess if the cost of comps was more than their potential profit, but they control all the factors.

Hopefully this will become a big deal, but I doubt it.

yeah, all they have to do is remove all the expensive comps. poker players don't generate a lot of revenue and video poker is almost break even the way he plays it. they just need to adjust for that.

instead they pull an assbrained move like this that's going to spread like wildfire among the poker players. not that the poker players are that important but still

Ludicrous

Did they hire clowns to run the place?

Re: High Rollers banned from WSOP?

Absurd. Even though I don't think this will get that much attention if it did I'd love to see their explanation to the public as to why he's not allowed to play in the WSOP. This is borderline retarded.

Re: High Rollers banned from WSOP?

There has to be more to this story. I never heard of a casino barring a sucker. I never heard of a sucker winning at video poker. I do believe he should be able to make a successful appeal to Harrah's management to play tournament poker. The casinos make a lot of money off everything. Perhaps it is good to be in denial about the rake.

When I say sucker, I mean in the casino's eyes. To them, we are all suckers.

Re: High Rollers banned from WSOP?

From what I understood it was possible to beat video poker under the right circumstances. If there was a large progressive that had yet to go off etc. Situations like these could produce positve expectation. This is what I rember having heard. I could be wrong about all of this but wouldnt a situation like this make sense in this case. In so far as Brodie has won a number of large jackpots this year etc.

Harrahs may view Brodie as an advantage player and are using him as an example, knowing that he is a Full Tilt pro etc. Thus making his life as difficult as they can as a message to others.

Obviously this could very well be wrong.

I don't think the machines he was playing had any kind of progressive jackpot, the payouts he gave were flat payouts.

He was playing $300/hand, so 700 hands. From what I remember, VP experts can clear 600 hands/hour. Even if hes doing 200/hour, its only 3.5 hours of play.

from what i read, it looks like he just ran hot short term. i don't see it being any different than someone having a big score on the blackjack or craps table.

they can't possibly start banning everyone who runs good.

i really wish this got more coverage on a national level. if high-rollers found out that this might be the result of them winning, they would take their business elsewhere.

Lol, and it so stupid of the casino. Its not like Harrah's doesn't have the bankroll to withstand the variance of playing a +EV game against the high rollers. Someone high up in their accounting department is a [censored] idiot.

i don't think so. there's no way to cheat this unless he's in cahoots with someone at the manufacturing plant or someone who programs the machine.

sounds more like harrahs drops a drag net and in the process they snag a bunch of innocent people.

It makes sense to investigate after a big win though. The game could be -EV for the casino if the high stakes player is cheating.

I obviously dont think brodie is cheating at all. JUst speaking from the casinos standpoint.

So Harrah's strategy in this case goes like:

1. Investigate machine, find out it wasn't cheated but was just a losing machine based on their already retarded inability to program +EV machines.
2. Ban high-profile, high-consumption genius of life for beating the at their own game
3. ?!?!??!?!?WTFTFTFTTFFTF!??!?!?!?!
4. PROFIT!

I want to know how Allen Kessler feels about all this.

It's both bewildering and sickening how Harrahs decided to "handle" this, how it reflects Harrah's totally ignorant and nonsensical customer service (the way they treat all of us), and how, despite all that, nothing will change and I'll remain a Harrah's customer until they ban me, because they own the WSOP action.

Wow, this is insane.

Don't get me started how you have to talk to an answering machine to register for the WSOP.
