Can anyone stake me say $100K? Negreanu offering 5-1 he wins at WSOP

http://img516.imageshack.us/img516/4...eanu6plah3.jpgNegreanu: Says he'll win

OP ~ DN says he is willing to lay 5-1 he will win a bracelet in the WSOP this year in his new blog - I'm not as confident; stake me?

[ QUOTE ]
"Now all that's over and here is my tentative WSOP plan:

I plan on playing almost daily and spending little to no time doing media related things, outside of two early mornings on the 8th and the 9th. My plan is to basically avoid the smaller buy in events and stick to the later, 5:00pm events that are better suited for my skill set. I actually printed out a rough schedule of what I'd want to do everyday so that I don't make any overlapping mistakes, for example, not playing the two tournaments prior to the $50,000 H.O.R.S.E. Here is what I have:

Jun 1: 12:00pm $5000 No Limit/Limit Hold'em
Jun 2: 12:00pm $1500 No Limit Hold'em
Jun 3: 5:00pm $2500 Omaha HL/Stud HL
Jun 4: 5:00pm $5000 Pot Limit Omaha (RB's)
Jun 5:12:00pm $1000 No Limit Hold'em (RB's)
Jun 5: 5:00pm $1500 Omaha HL (if out of other event)
Jun 6: 5:00pm $5000 7 Card Stud
Jun 7: 12:00pm $1500 No Limit Hold'em Short Handed
Jun 8: 5:00pm $5000 Pot Limit Hold'em
Jun 9: 5:00pm $2500 H.O.R.S.E.
Jun 10: 5:00pm $5000 Limit Hold'em
Jun 11: 12:00pm $2500 No Limit Hold'em
Jun 11: 5:00pm $2000 Stud H/L (if out of other event)
Jun 12: 12:00pm $1500 No Limit Shootout
Jun 13: 12:00pm $5000 No Limit Hold'em
Jun 14: 5:00pm $3000 Stud H/L
Jun 15: 5:00pm $5000 H.O.R.S.E.
Jun 16: 12:00pm $1500 No Limit Hold'em
Jun 17: 12:00pm $3000 No Limit Hold'em
Jun 17: 5:00pm $1500 Razz (if out of other event)
Jun 18: 12:00pm $2500 No Limit Hold'em Short Handed
Jun 19: 1:00pm $5000 No Limit Hold'em Heads Up
Jun 20: 12:00pm $1500 Pot Limit Omaha (RB's)
Jun 20: 5:00pm $3000 Limit Hold'em
Jun 21: 5:00pm $5000 Omaha H/L
Jun 22: DAY OFF
Jun 23: DAY OFF
Jun 24: 12:00pm $50,000 H.O.R.S.E.
Jun 25: Still in H.O.R.S.E.
Jun 26: 12:00pm $2000 Limit Hold'em
Jun 27: 12:00pm $2000 Omaha HL
Jun 28: 12:00pm $5000 No Limit Hold'em Short Handed
Jun 29: 12:00pm $2000 No Limit Hold'em
Jun 29: 5:00pm $1000 2-7 Triple Draw (RB's) (If out of other event)
Jun 30: 12:00pm $1500 No Limit Hold'em
Jul 1: 12:00pm $10,000 Pot Limit Omaha
Jul 2: 12:00pm $1000 No Limit Hold'em (RB's)
Jul 3: 12:00pm $1000 Limit Hold'em Shootout
Jul 4: 12:00pm $5000 2-7 Single Draw No Limit
Jul 5: DAY OFF
Jul 6: DAY OFF
Jul 7: DAY OFF
Jul 8: $10,000 No Limit Hold'em Main Event

All of this is subject to change, with the exception of the fact that if you don't see a tournament on this list, there is zero chance that I will play it. I will likely skip a few of these even to avoid burn out. In addition to playing the tournaments, I won't be playing in the cash games unless I change my mind sometime between now and the end of the WSOP. It drains too much energy out of me.

I actually played at the Bellagio once this week for 8 hours and I played pretty well. I was very unlucky in triple draw not winning any real pots in that game. When you can't make a hand in triple draw in a mixed format, it usually means you are destined to have a losing session as the game plays bigger than a game like, 7 Card Stud for example. I ended up losing $95,000 and the game broke after Chan, Tuan and myself played three handed for a while.

Other than that I haven't played poker much at all, and that was my intention anyway as the WSOP will be grueling.

On days when I start at 5:00pm, I may decide to golf that day, or, if I play a noon even and am out early I may head to the course for a late round. I'm assuming there will be some big golf matches throughout the WSOP, but I'm so bad now that it would be difficult for me to match up with anyone as they'd have to give me a TON of strokes to make a game even remotely fair. Not only strokes, but since I don't hit the ball anywhere off the tee, I have to get a tee spot also. Who knows, we shall see...

Aside from that, I won't be drinking during the WSOP. I may entertain guests one or two nights during the month, but aside from that I'll be home working out, playing pool, hanging with the wife, and mostly just relaxing in between play.

I offered, and am still offering anyone a price on me winning a WSOP bracelet this year. I had several offers the first time I posted it, so here is a reminder to those interested: you can lay me 5-1 and I'll be willing to bet up to $100,000 that I'll win a bracelet in 2007. For those who don't know how that works exactly, you'd put up $500 if you lose, and win $100 if I'm unable to win a bracelet.

Here's to a great WSOP in 2007, good luck to all!"

I generally rag on pros -- it is very, very fun -- but he'll probably win a bracelet every 4-7 years. This bet isn't that +EV.

"After dinner, it's over to my place. I much prefer hanging at the house rather than going to a bar or a club where there would be lots of people there that I don't really know. In the past, it's become annoying for some of my friends sometimes as they constantly feel like they have to watch my back and often people cross the line of what's acceptable behavior. People would just kind of invite themselves to our group and just hang out with us. Now, I'm talking about complete strangers here. It's just not cool."

This is why so many people can't stand this insecure self-important little wannabee elitist punkshit.

How dare you occupy the immediate proximity to my nimble name dropping and magnanimous metrosexual magnificence!!! Damn you plebs, damn you to El Cortez or Four Queens!!

It would bother you if you politely approached him and were flaked off like dandruff, which I get the very strong impression is exactly what he would do if in the presence of anyone he wanted to impress (Eric Lindgren, Phil Ivey Patrick Antonious). We all knew people like this in high school, Danny just hasn't grown up.

If you are going to socialize in the public domain and soak up all the D-list celebrity fringe benefits and adulation every self-important shitwad attention whore is obviously seeking when they go to the trendy places and so forth, you have no business feigning displeasure when indulged... not in the way he did anyway. Read the paragraph again, it sure sounds like to me he's trying to be the coolest cat who ever crept instead of humbly communicating from the heart how uncomfortable he is with overly friendly strangers.

THAT'S NOT COOL.

I don't think it's a sin no. I wouldn't do it myself, but he comes off like a Roman aristocrat. If it weren't for the 2x2 fanboys he probably wouldn't give much more than the time of day to in the company of important people, he wouldn't have any of those sponsorship deals.

This is what happens when you don't actually leave the house and go out with friends. You lose touch with how creepy it is to have people you don't know sitting at your tables, drinking your booze, and hanging out with you and your friends. It's just weird and I'm baffled by anyone who doesn't understand why it would bother someone.

It's possible we are both reading more into what he said than we should be. As written I did not take it to mean he was referring to the type of encroachment anyone in their right social mind knows is not acceptable.. I took it to mean "his crew" is ultra-exclusive and completely out of bounds to every other upright ambulant in the room.

But then I'm biased, because I absolutely cannot stand the guy. Admittedly I'll find something obnoxious in everything he says with very little effort--which is more effort than he's really worth btw.

Daniel is still very good with his fans during the tournament--he acquiesces to every request for an autograph, picture and he schmoozes regularly with his fans.

Being that famous in poker is a much of a curse as it is a blessing, and I can assure you that guys like Phil Ivey and Daniel are sick of being stopped 12 times by random people on the way to the bathroom at the Rio, but they oblige their fans out of basic decency. In any event, I could see how being clung to by Random People while not around a poker environment would be very uncomfortable and bothersome. If I couldn't go to a club without being bothered by strangers on a regular basis, I'd stay home too.

If you read the original post where DN proposed this bet, his assumptions weren't too improbable. If he manages to play his whole schedule, he definitely has a decent change to get a bracelet at least once in five years.

He posted this at or before March? Why not approach him directly at the Rio? He's pretty approachable and will probably give you some kind of definitive answer or a grand excuse (although I assume he'll want you to post-up the 250K as you should expect him to post-up the 50K). Give me a break. So he has to sign a few autographs. The benefit of that is some donk who plays him for a lot of money when he has no shot of winning. If he wants slink back into anonymity and give up his endorsement deals, website, and games where people give away their money, then fine. If not, then STFU and sign a few autographs, he's certainly getting paid well enough for it.

That's 35-40 tourneys he's playing. What do you think the line really is?

[/ QUOTE ]

I'd prefer not to say, but I obviously think I'm getting the best of it laying 5-1.

He posted this at or before March?

History: some goofball started this thread that Daniel showed up in and proposed the 5-1 bracelet bet. We PM'ed back and forth several times, and agreed to book the bet. Though there are several people we both know that would have vouched for me, I offered to post the bet either in person in Vegas or via online transfer or via bank wire. Daniel stopped replying once we got this far.

Why not approach him directly at the Rio?

Funny enough I was headed over to talk with him but I saw you on the way to his table. (shaniac > DN, obv) When we finished booking details of our props, I ran into Bob Bright and talked with him for a bit. By the time we ironed out some details I forgot about Daniel.

Sadly enough, I'm one of the few guys that got fed up with Harrah's and came back home after being unable to register for the Saturday and Sunday's events. (I woke up every two hours and went to the cage-- lines were never less than 3 hours long)

Don't worry, I'm flying back in as soon as the big cash games heat up, so I'll be there for your 3 Final Table Victory dinner.

I'm going to try posting on Daniel's FCP right now.

post this on the fcp forum and there is a 100% chance he will respond and accept.

I just signed up for his forum, but I'm not allowed to PM Daniel or reply to the thread about the bet. Maybe I need X number of posts first. If someone is a regular over there, maybe you can post a pointer to this thread?

At the end of the day, I know Daniel knows about the $50k bet and would have booked it if he wanted the action. His reasons for not doing so are his own, and could be as pedestrian as plain 'ol lazyness or busyness.

Not sure if this was mentioned before now but Daiel said the most HE would wager was 100K making the most anybody else would need to put up 20K. Was the extra 80K the OP was asking for for something else? Stakes for the WSOP for himself?
