LOVE Gordon!!!!
Got hooked on this show while living in Scotland...and of course over there they don't bleep out a thing. Haven't seen the U.S. version yet.
Yesterday I watched 3 back-to-back episodes of "Gordon Ramsey's Kitchen Nightmares" on BBCA.
If you have access to this channel, check it out!

that's a cool show, but gordon is like a priest in that one vs. hell's kitchen. i saw an HK promo tonight, and some guy flat out fainted HARD to the ground.

woo

I've never seen the show, but BoDog has a bunch of wagers offered on the winner, and whether people will be cut or burned during certain episodes.

Anyone have any thoughts on these?

JPT - It's a great show! check it out this year for sure... and of course if you can wager on it, then that much better!!! what ever happened with So You Think You Can Dance? Is Matchbook putting up odds?

rsigley 05-31-2007 02:49 PM

Re: HELL\'s KITCHEN **official thread**

make sure after the first episode you watch the previews and see if anyone is crying in the previews

bodog always has the someone crying bet and if someone cried last season it was shown in every preview

if no one was crying in the preview no one cried in the episode

swept that prop for every episode last year

JPT III 05-31-2007 03:41 PM

Re: HELL\'s KITCHEN **official thread**

Nice tip, rsigley. Hopefully more of the same this year. Can anyone tell us how frequently someone is cut or burned on these shows? Wouldn't surprise me if BoDOg didn't do its homework on that prop.

stuartfl - I'll check it out for sure. Food + wagering = can't beat it!

As far as SYTYCD, Matchbook never gave a definitive answer on whether odds will be offered, but I'm still hopefull. I also think Benji's sister will go far -- perhaps the early favorite, IMO, based on the limited information we have at this point.....

Re: HELL\'s KITCHEN **official thread**

I recall in last years season 4 people getting burned, 2 serious. Not sure about cuts.

IMO, some of these markets won't be there for opening episodes. we have to get books to make the market for us when show has started. if there is enough demand, they will do anything we want. they are scuzzy offshore book/schylocks

iirc, HK takes all summer, as there is always a recap show and a couple of pre-empts.

Im leaning towards NO on the Will anyone be burnt or cut. I read that one person passes out, there is a confrontation between Ramsey and Vinny and that one of the men starts crying. Amoung all of this there was no mention of a burn or cut. Any thoughts?

i've seen the clip of the guy taking a header to the floor.

as far as whether there will be a cut, i was a chef in my early years and cuts are a daily thing. if you see a prop on cuts, take it.

Does anyone know if any books are offering futures on this show? I'm a big fan from previous years and after watching last nights show, I think there is some $$ to be made! Thoughts?

I watched too!

I honestly didn't expect much as I had never heard of this show until you posted about it in here.

I found it surprisingly entertaining.

GrannyMae - I didn't have Jen in my top four after watching the first show. I think it will once again go to someone that has culinery experience (meaning schooling)and even though she does, I didn't see enough of her in the first episode except when Chef didn't like her opening dish (crust was to thick?). Here are my top four - Josh, Brad, Rock and Melisa(least fav of my four) I would even throw in Eddie because he's freaking great!!

i did not pick jen because i personall saw talent. i picked her because of something i saw in the filming that appeared to be an early spoiler coming from the producers. sometimes they slip crazy things in, and i thought i saw something.

no other reasoning behind it.

do we know where we can bet on the individual contestants?

stuartfl 06-06-2007 06:05 PM

Re: HELL\'s KITCHEN **official thread**

Granny, now that you mentioned the filming, I think i'm going to watch the highlights again tonight that they run after the show is over portraying the season ahead.... i think you can learn alot by watching that.

I think playing someone on talent and looks alone can play to our advantage. Last year I pegged the winner because she was the only one that knew anything about cooking, hence she was trained at school. Runner up was cute but a total idiot - no way anyone was going to hand her a rest. in LV run. just my 2cents.

I've heard Bodog had some prop bets up at one time but i haven't checked..... may need to sign up tonight to check.

Can anyone confirm this?

the only prop bets i saw were wheter the red or blue team will win the week. IIRC, they that had that prop listed for all 15 upcomming shows. the betting was not open on most of the future shows, but they were listed.

Sucks to be a Canadian (never been to Bodog's prop bet list before because of that):

"Will America's Got Talent host David Hasselhoff eat a hamburger on screen during season 2 of the show?"

i'm not going to delete this post so it can stay as an example. however, TPTB would like this forum to NOT encourage betting amongst members. therefore, i ask that interested parties take it offline so to speak. i.e. i can't allow discussion of side bets between members. LL's will be tolerated, but not open wagering.

this certainly does seem legit, and also explains why the bets are not available.

I cant figure out what TPTB stands for all i can think of is
"The People That Bitch"

Anyway it was a semi serious post I would only bet on a message board if I held the bets, and no one would agree to that.
