Best shoes for walking?
Unfortunately 99% of the 18 hole courses in my area do not allow walking, but I am a member at a ~2900 yard par 31 that I walk 3-4 times per week before work. My Footjoy eComforts are pretty old though (I'd say about 3 years) and they haven't been very "e-comfortable" lately.
They've been good though and I wouldn't mind picking up another pair, but does anyone have a better recommendation I should try out? I'm not looking for anything TOO outrageous like the GF II's. I'd like to keep it around or under $125 if I can. Oh yeah - I never finish a round without somewhat wet shoes (2nd off the tee, morning dew, always hitting out of the long stuff), so a decent level of waterproofing is important. So... what would be some good options to consider and how long should I expect them to last? Thanks |

Re: Best shoes for walking?
Sorry I don't have a specific model to recommend, but I've found that Etonic golf shoes are better at waterproofing and more comfortable for me personally. I used to swear by FootJoys until I picked up a pair of on sale Etonics.

Re: Best shoes for walking?
I have Adidas Powerbands and really like them. It took one round to break them in, but since then they have been very comfortable.

Re: Best shoes for walking?
Adidas Tour 360's are great for me(but outside your range),

Re: Best shoes for walking?
Dryjoys or DryJoys Pro although MSRP is 150-165 you shouldn't have much trouble finding them for 125 or less. Light, durable, waterproof, and atleast fairly comfortable (alot more so than Classics).

Re: Best shoes for walking?
eC's are great, if you want to spend a little $, try the DryJoys(like the GF2's) they are great, I also have a pair of Classic Tours that I walk in all the time, one of my courses is cart only too. If you are going to jump brands, be careful, first let me say that I am a huge Adidas junkie, but Adidas and Nike shoes fit differently that your Fj's, make sure that you try them on before and after a round to make sure they are comfortable. One of the worst things is to get a pair of shoes that feels good, play 18 holes with them and they suck.
Also, Adidas, Nike and FJ all have 30 day comfort warranty's too. If you really want to go thru the trouble, you can return them for a credit if they really suck. tobdog |
Re: Best shoes for walking?
I've heard a lot of good things about DryJoys... going to try on a pair of those and see if I like them. Powerbands are a couple of dollars more than I was looking to spend but I bet I can find them online cheaper if I like them.
Thanks for your suggestions everyone. |

Just over your $125 but these are extremely comfortable. Also these have lasted me a surprisingly long time, considering I play almost everyday, and wear these every second day. I would say I have had them 18 months and they're not worn out, just becoming more worn in. |
Re: Best shoes for walking?
try footjoy shoes... the more expensive ones are perfect for comfort

Re: Best shoes for walking?
My dryjoys have only gotten more comfortable over time. The most expensive piece of equipment I own but worth it.

Re: Best shoes for walking?
Does anybody have any opinion on DryJoys vs. DryJoys PRO? Worth the extra money for the "PRO" version or are they essentially the same thing?

Re: Best shoes for walking?
Oakley shoes run .5 size smaller than others(Nike, FJ, Adi, etc), get one half size bigger.

Dryjoys

Re: Best shoes for walking?
I would steer away from Nikes, they hurt my feet for walking more than 9.

Re: Best shoes for walking?
My guess is that ECCO's should be among the best for walking. I have 2 pairs of their regular shoes and they are extremely comfortable for walking; very solidly built etc. I have Adidas now and they are ok, but not great.
I have never seen any Golf mag review of golf shoes specifically for walking. Has anyone else? I would think the shoes geared for Americans have little consideration for walking since the average one of us is a big fat cart riding sloth. |
Re: Best shoes for walking?
Well, I went to the golf shop today to try on some DryJoys Pro and GF:IIs (so much for my $130 limit). DryJoys were bleh in comparison to the GF:IIs. They had last year's GF:IIs (which the guy says is the same [censored] as this year's model, except it was made last year) on clearance for like $109-$119 depending on size and color - great!
However, I want them in black and they only have black/brown and white/brown. I can get black 11.5M online, but I'm a 12M. I tried the 11.5M and they feel about the same as the 12M, but I know the minute I buy 11.5M online and start walking in them they aren't going to feel comfortable anymore. Only way to get a 12M black is to order this year's model for $170. UGH! Decision time. =( |

Re: Best shoes for walking?
guys, what do you think of golf shoes sold at big 5? are they no good? I read all your comments and the shoes you talk about are in the $100+ range. At big 5 I can get this for 50 bucks or this for 30 bucks

Re: Best shoes for walking?
Echo's are the most comfortable hands down. Probably all out of his price range though.
