WSOP Number of entrants @ Betfair

thereīs a market @ sports betting exchange betfair for the numbers of entrants at this yearīs wsop me. not too sure where the value is. betting against (laying) 9000 ++ participants seems like nice value, but itīs just too easy .

your guess?

number of participants / european odds

1-3999 26
4000-4999 15.5
5000-5999 8.6
6000-6999 6.6
7000-7999 5.9
8000-8999 4.2
9000 ++ 3.05

seems like lots of those guesses were made before Stars/FT decided to just give cash to all their qualifers instead of pre-registering them all. my guess is < 10% of these people actually show up in Vegas to play the ME. those 2 rooms alone accounted for > 2,000 players last year. I'm not sure what Pokeroom.com and UB are doing, but my guess is something similar.

on top of that, Party + a bunch of smaller rooms have left the US completely. these places accounted for 2,000 - 2,500 (my guess) last year.

in total last year, there were around 5,000 online qualifers, and very few of them are going to be there this year. People who will go are the Europeans from non-US facing rooms.

Last year there were about 8,700 total players.

I would say somewhere in the 4,000 - 5,000 person range this year seems about right

I was looking at this the other day and thinking the same thing. I dont think you can go wrong laying 9000+

I personally think they will get about 6,000, but i hope im wrong

This thread + a couple of Gutshot articles are going to ruin my value. I have $2500 or so laid on 9,000 entrants, all at ~3. Now lay is 4. Why couldn't you lot have waited a week til I could put more money on the lay eh?

Thanks for the tip. I've backed up to 5999 for about an equal win in each case, with a saver on 6000-6999.

(odds - 1) x stake = net win

Poker Stars I read somewhere had 1600 entries last year, they have already got over 900 this year. Obviously the extra business they have received since October will help, however, it still suggest to me that there will be at least 7500 entrants

Does anyone else think the entrants will drop drastically this year? i mean, if stars said. hey rj, want a seat or 10k? i would take the 10k without hesitation. I imagine 459084 other fish will do the exact same thing. So yeah, i would attribute it mostly to the no 3rd party registration rule.
