1k TStone Hand: Ugly Turn

25/50 blinds. Good structure
I have about 4400 to start.

I have seen a few flops but not played any big ones. Have isoed limper maybe 2 times. BB has Already cr'ed me once and I folded after a little thought.

Kinda passive guy who has been limping a lot limps in EP. I make it 200 with TJs. BB call limper calls.

Flop is TdJd8 Checked to me I bet 500 BB calls.
Turn is another 8. He checks to me.

I ended up betting 900. He shoved (had me covered) pretty quickly. I've got a bit more than 2600 left and I decide to call.

Reads: Guy is fat, kind of dumb-looking 20-25 year old. I didn't think he had a big hand when he called on the flop.

i limp behind with a hand like JTs all day.

this is a nasty turn card to bet, because your hand is more or less reduced to a bluff catcher (well, or an overplayed KJ catcher), so betting seems so very uggo on this board.

OSU I think being in position is pretty awesome here, especially if it gets HU. C-Bet will take it down quite often.

Plus the times we do hit something having a raised pot is money.

Re: 1k TStone Hand: Ugly Turn

dan,

the reason i limp behind here is that the hands that really hit JTss also hit a lot of other limped hands, but not quite as hard. hands that really hit JTss don't hit a ton of hands that cold call raises or limp/call.

btw, a cbet takes it down often, but when we hit it's money? that's kinda conflicting, don't you think?

as played, you hve to call. I think a lot of weak players would do this with 99 , A9, AJ, QJ, KJ, etc. However, if he had the 8 with a dime draw or an overpair, I dont really know what to say except he played it awful

OSU,

Cbet doesn't have to work all that often to be profitable. Of the times they don't immediately fold, they probably put way too much money in later streets.

i think you're good here on the turn unless he has 98, which is definitely a possibility. it's pretty close between bet-call and check imo. if i did bet i definitely wouldnt be folding.

I can think of handfuls of pros that your "read" describes, and I would be lunch for all of them.

Call for sure.

Given that a lot of TS regulars are horrible, I probably call, but not particularly happy about calling. (I probably bet too)

I'm gonna bump this one time because I think it's an interesting spot.

My 1st reaction was to fold but the more I think about it, the more I'm talking myself into calling. Since it's early and you probably don't have much of a read I guess all I can ask you is did you bet 900(pot was ~1600ish if im correct)on the turn because you were trying to salvage as many chips as possible if you get CRed and decide u have to fold it. Or did you bet 900 because you thought it would look weak and induce a bluff.

You played the hand fine.

You have a pretty easy call on the end

At the table I thought he flipped up 88 but a bit later Randal told me it was actually 89o.

He said based on previous play with the guy he'd have found a fold... I'm still not sure if live people are ever bluffing here but I don't think calling is unreasonable at the least.

I don't like the turn bet. If I bet I probably fold to the c/r.

Thoughts on Villain's turn line?

Is a c/r here better than just leading turn/shoving river?

I almost made the disclaimer to ignore preflop, but I just assumed no one would be dumb enough to say anything.

If you have an 8, leading is better.
If you don't have an 8, c/r is probably better.

Late position, somewhere around the hijack/cutoff

Is this sarcastic? If not, What hands are shoving here, besides random bluff?

Check behind turn, call a river bet on most cards. Bet when checked to on the river. It's a very scary board and a very easy check to keep the pot small and make the rest of the hand very easy to play. When he c/r's that turn, he's huge.

Re: 1k TStone Hand: Ugly Turn

against a fat dumb dude, i probably bet-call turn too.

against a better player, or as a default, it should be a check-behind turn and call river (vbet if checked to)

Why can't you play like gobbo? Then I wouldn't be down money.
