The Official 2007 Chicago Cubs Thread
Let the haters hate. Go Cubs.

Re: The Official 2007 Chicago Cubs Thread
They are arguably the 2nd best in the NL, but would probably be amongst the bottom half in the AL.

NIIIIIICE!

OHHHHH... for a fifth starter...

Am I the only one who thinks Murton should play every day?

If by only one you mean every rational person/non Cubs employee then yes, I would agree.

Re: The Official 2007 Chicago Cubs Thread
WTG Marquis. The pen needed a solid outing from Jason tonight after last nights 15 inning game and they got it. Hopefully Carlos can take care of business tomorrow so the Cubs can take their fourth series in a row.

Re: The Official 2007 Chicago Cubs Thread
that pitching performance couldn't have come at a better time

Am I the only one who thinks Murton should play every day? [/ QUOTE ] The first month of the season I threw up everyday I saw a lineup that included Jacque Jones & did not include Murton and Theriot. Does everybody realize D-Lee has reached base every game this season? |
Re: The Official 2007 Chicago Cubs Thread
Great game tonight by Marquis. Need some better situational hitting with men on third and less than 2 outs late in the game. It cost us the game last night and could have cost us tonight. Let's get another one tomorrow with Big Z on the hill.

Re: The Official 2007 Chicago Cubs Thread
Remember when Carlos Zambrano was a good pitcher?

Re: The Official 2007 Chicago Cubs Thread
There have been some painful loses the last few weeks but I have still not given up hope for this season. Z aside, the starting pitching has been great and it is only a matter of time before he pulls things together. The offence is producing and is the 2nd best in the national league at this point. The pen is the obviously leak but it can only get better from here on out... hopefully. The central is so week this year I still believe the Cubs will pull it together and stop choking in the late innings.

Re: The Official 2007 Chicago Cubs Thread
Can we end the Angel Pagan experiment pt. 2 before he goes Mendosa this time? DeRosa (with his super IsOD) should be in the 2-hole if Theriot isn't there.
Unfortunately, Murton will never be an everyday player in this organization. The Cubs have always believed in loading up with LH hitters when facing RHP. This likely will not change. We have RH hitters entrenched in LF, at 1B,2B,3B and C. Izturis is not a threat whatsoever, So those LH bats have to come from CF and RF. Murton will continue to hit against lefties and get the occasional start against a RHP, until he is traded, probably for an old reliever. |
Re: The Official 2007 Chicago Cubs Thread
pagan shouldn't be in the majors.
|
Re: The Official 2007 Chicago Cubs Thread
why all the hate on Pagan? He's the best defensive outfielder we have right now and is hitting fine.

Re: The Official 2007 Chicago Cubs Thread
You still would deserve to be flamed.
Cubs have a great chance at the playoffs, and will definitely be in contention in September. |
Re: The Official 2007 Chicago Cubs Thread
Other than the fact that they are surrounded by mind-numbingly bad teams, what makes you assess their chances at "great?"
|
Re: The Official 2007 Chicago Cubs Thread
The fact that they are probably the best team in the division.
|
Re: The Official 2007 Chicago Cubs Thread

Re: The Official 2007 Chicago Cubs Thread
They did that because Z went for like 130 pitches yesterday. You gotta even it out sometimes.

Re: The Official 2007 Chicago Cubs Thread
funny how they pull hill yet should have ph for lilly after 5 innings the other night with 2 out and runners on 2nd and 3rd, but didn't. Then, obv, pulled him in the middle of the 6th.
