My worst month yet :( -12 BIs

I believe this is my first post in this forum (brag, because I don't brag about brags).

I only played NL25 (had to make a big withdrawal from poker acct. after finishing college and moving to my own place). Of course this is the time I decide to have my worst downswing ever.

(yes, my stats are top secret.)
http://img262.imageshack.us/img262/5893/graphto6.jpg

20 BIs is supposed to be the accepted amount to cover the worst downswing right? 12 down, 8 more to go!

Someone who is generally a winner that lost more than 12 BI this month, please reply before I kill a kitten.

BBV-style flaming aside, I really did review my PT and I've just lost so much with big AI PF hands like my AA vs. (insert 22-88), my AK vs. (insert AQ-A4), etc. Of course everyone can always improve and I have lots of room for it, but this month has just been full of suckouts. Nothing out of the ordinary in any individual one, but there were countless many of them.

Off to break something.

Your sample isn't even 8k hands. People (winners) have broken even over 40k hands.

12 buyins is nothing.

Winning players can easily have 20+ buy-in downswings, however losing even 12 buy-ins at NL25 probably means you're terrible.

If this is serious, explain please.

2+ years without a losing month then a -12BI month = "you suck"? Maybe I should know better than to think anything is serious in this forum =d

I know it is and that's why I'm posting. It's weird how everyone is so quick to say "it means you suck", yet I could easily select about a dozen AI PF hands which have a summed EV that would make the difference for this month -- and that's just out of the PF AI hands.

If I constantly get money in good it's up to the RNG after that. Nothing stops it from giving it to the underdog multiple times in a row... probably moreso given my sample size.

*shrug* I lost half my bankroll at NL25 and NL50 last month. I'm down about 14 BIs over the last two months. It's depressing, especially after running hot for a long time, but it's poker and ya gotta either deal with it or take up parcheesi.

I'm a solid winner -- 8 PTBB/100 before latest rough stretch, 6 PTBB/100 after -- at 25NL and 50NL over ~150K hands and I just lost 13 buyins at 25NL in about the same number of hands as OP.

Art, you might suck but you definitely don't have to for this to happen to you. Good luck turning it around.

This your first time reading BBV? This is the reaction you get here. So you lost 12 BIs in one month...of very few hands. I'm down 16 BI at 2/4 in my last 5k hands. Luckily thats just under a week of play. As you move up, you'll go on bigger downswings...My advice: don't post them in BBV until you go over 30. And then be prepared to still get flamed.

Yeah I know, I've made a few comments stating I know what to expect in this forum. I was just kinda frustrated last night hence my forum choice -- somewhat making fun of myself but then today I wrongly expected sincere responses. =d

I did want to correct the accusation that I was torn up about the money though.

Thanks to those that really did offer support and show it's not abnormal, it's definitely encouraging.

Re: My worst month yet :( -12 BIs

Artsemis, you probably have to adapt your game somewhat to deal with the donks at the microstakes. I have a strict 'only play when drunk' policy for NL20. It works for me:

Re: My worst month yet :( -12 BIs

25NL means you are a modest player playing other modest players

400NL means you are a decent player playing other decent players

1000NL means you are a good player playing other good players

Ergo, dropping 20BI's at any of those levels is simply a matter of relativity. So screw the haters OP. Losing 12BI's at 25NL is precisely = to losing 12BI's at a higher level.

(Declaration: I am on a 20BI downswing at 50NL laaawwwwwwwwl)

I dropped 18 buyins at 100NL 6 max last month before turning it around cos I was stupid enough to not move down soon enough. Posted about it here, got the usual responses.

So I moved down to 25NL for a short while, then 50NL, then 100NL then a little 200NL. Still made more than $4.5k from poker last month including bonuses and rakeback. Rubbish month, but still, could have been a lot worse considering I was down to under $400 on my online roll and didn't rebuy.

So there you go. It can turn around, even for a massive fish like me. Don't kill any kittens

And AA vs JJ all in pf... I closed the window before grabbing the HH but there's nothing special there, he just flopped a J.

I'm just getting extremely frustrated as 20BI's is supposed to be the maximum buyins to account for the luck and variance but it's looking like I'm going to hit that mark.

I'm still up about $1500 on NL25 (I suck at moving up) but like I said before I had to pull out most of it to move after college... now I can't even have a winning session.

Oh, here you go...
Beat: I'm down 15BI's at NL25.
Brag: I'm still up $1500.
Variance: I'm considering murdering a kitten.
