I have it on good authority that NYU Law School Dave, or "LSD" as they call him in the underground circles, parlayed a 200-400 nl shottake on FTP into a hotstreak at the NYC games for a total of >$700k profits in the last two weeks. [img]/images/graemlins/shocked.gif[/img]

The fact that the above NYU Dave keeps dancing around the question makes it more likely, at least in my head, that it might have been him. Anyway, I'm crossing my fingers it was because that means his finals week has been a hell of a lot better than mine (about $699,700 better).

There are other regular huge games that occur in hotel rooms/event spaces by invitation as well that you may or may not be privy to.

It's hard to find high-stakes ($50/$100 or more) no-limit games in New York that are not restricted to people too rich to care about the money. There's a lot of $5/$10 no-limit and $25/$50 no-limit; and up to $400/$800 limit, these are open to most people who have the stake.

I can't say whether someone won $500,000 in one session, but it's not common in New York, unless you count people who make more money than that every day running hedge funds. The people who play for those stakes go to Atlantic City or Las Vegas to play for high stakes. It's safer and easier to find a good dealer and set-up.
