This thread has been done many times before. There's never been a clear cut winner, but it is undoubtedly a Mike Post composition. Here is one candidate:

Yeah, wonder years and Life Goes on fall into the same category here - both excellent songs though.

I like the Cheers theme a lot - though not necessarily a "good" song or anything

I don't think we can leave Andy Griffith out of this thread. The simple whistling melody might not be a towering symphonic achievement, but it still has to be one of the most distinctive and recognized TV theme songs. The fact that it is so memorable w/o even using words is even more to its credit.

yup. I forgot about Gummie Bears. What an awesome show. I listed the Simpsons along with Ducktales, and while I think it's awesome and creative, it's not really up to snuff with these two. It's more of a second tier theme song.

Also, this makes me a little gay probably, but I'm a huge fan of the Reading Rainbow theme song.
