According to reliable sources, his seat in the EPT Copenhagen was won in a cheap Stars sat, so this doesn't sound unlikely.

Why is this bad? it might mean he is broke or it might mean he wants to win his seat the cheap way thus having no backers and getting good value if he does well in the tournament he gets to by satellite.

I don't know if that's TJ's Stars handle or not.
But it was a pretty well-spread rumor that he won his seat into the 2005 main-event via the Steps 1-table thingees on Party.

The step 5 are like $1400 buy in, they seem like a pretty reasonable method for any pro to get their entry ticket.

it's not bad. 2+2 just constaly likes to make fun of TJ because during the "moneymaker era" he was held up as one of the top pros, blah blah blah

I don't see any problem with playing FPP satelitte tournies no matter who you are. I do, lots of people do. Better than using them for a T-shirt IMO.
