preflop theoretical question
UTG raises 3.5x the BB. You have A2s on the button.
Do you call? |
Re: preflop theoretical question
This is way to broad of a question, whats UTG's image? How many callers in between the two of you.. Stack sizes? If we are both deep and there is a couple of callers in between i may see a flop, most of the time im folding heads up or else 3 bet it. Calling heads up I think is the worst move.

[/ QUOTE ] sorry 6max 100bb everyone folds in between. no reads. |
Re: preflop theoretical question
I fold without thinking twice.
JW, why is this interesting? |

I fold without thinking twice. JW, why is this interesting? [/ QUOTE ] I don't know if it is. I made a call in a similar spot today. Slightly deeper. And I thought to myself that it was probably marginal at best and was wondering what others thought. |
Re: preflop theoretical question
I often wonder about what others probably consider fairly simple/standard preflop stuff like this too.
|
Re: preflop theoretical question
i fold this unless we are way deeper, maybe 3bet if hes out of line.

Re: preflop theoretical question
instapush ftw
|
Re: preflop theoretical question
mix it up
|
Re: preflop theoretical question
without reads, it's an easy fold.
|
Re: preflop theoretical question
make it CO raising and it becomes more interesting imo.

Re: preflop theoretical question
this thread is retarded

make it CO raising and it becomes more interesting imo. [/ QUOTE ] yeah, but its going to require some really good postflop play. I'd only do that against an ABC player when I know there betting patterns/tendencies |
Re: preflop theoretical question
omg, almost the same situation just happened to me, while I was reading this thread (only he had a7s).
I raised utg 3.5bb he cc..I ended up stacking him with AQ. Moral: it's a bad play |
Re: preflop theoretical question
If UTG is bad, I'll call here often. I feel I'm a better postflop player than preflop player tbh, and I want to see cheap flops in position against bad players. If the blinds are loose we might end up 3 or 4 way with a NFD, which is nice.
If UTG is good, just fold. His range is tight enough, and if you catch 2flush and he catches a piece he's willing to payoff with, there's no way you'll be given the right price to draw. Obvious domination issues to worry about if you catch an ace high flop. |
Re: preflop theoretical question
I think you need closer to 150BB, maybe 200BB to make this a profitable call.
|
Re: preflop theoretical question
UTG raises too few hands for this to be a profitable call

Re: preflop theoretical question
if the villan is really bad, or even slighty bad I might call this once in a while. if another player calls before the action comes to me I am almost always calling
|
Re: preflop theoretical question
Easy fold w/o reads. With postflop reads, I call a lot.
