Re: the cheap beer thread

The cheapest beer I'll drink if I can help it is Bud Select, usually like $10/12pack around here. The rotgut stuff gets to me, although if I'm broke and desperate for some beers I can deal with High Life I guess.

Steel Reserve is great if you can't afford the good motor oil.

Steel Reserve is a very tasty beverage.

You also seem to suck at cheap beer.

I once was involved in a "beers around the trailer park" party. This is based on the "beers around the world", where each guest brings a 6 or 12 pack of beer from different countries, but for this we each had to bring cheap beer. We had beers such as Fat Cat, Pearl, Olympia, and a bunch of other very cheap beer. The winner was the first one to drink one of each beers or pass out drunk first.

Fun was had by all.

I've actually found out that you make highly effective explosives using steel reserve as long as you add a little motor oil

i drink PBR all the time, because it is totally drinkable and costs 3 bucks for a sixer.

in my forty oz days i was all about the king cobra with the wide mouth bottles. 5 bucks for 4 of em at the local winomart.

This stuff is somewhat palatable and ridiculously cheap, in Baltimore at least.

also miller lite is pretty drinkable, for a cheap beer.

Most of the time if i meet someone who says there favorite beer is some cheap beer like bud lite, i assume they just don't like the taste of beer.

I'll drink any beer, as long as it isn't made out of rice.

Is my choice for greatest bang for your buck. I find that steel reserve comes with many side effects though, one of which is time travel.

If I'm going to drink cheap beer (which is like always) I got for whatever the cheap local is. PBR in PA, Natty Boh in B-more, Reingold in NY, Iron City in Pittsburgh and my all time favorite, Schaeffer anywhere I can find it. It's usually cheaper AND better than things like the major brand stuff (even though most of the major brand companies own and brew the locals)

hmm, I'm not sure what a case of Lionhead bottles is going for now. Last year I think I picked a case of 24 longnecks up for $12. I didn't mind it at all.

Other cheaper beers - PBR, Busch
If in South Africa, Castle, Lion (I wish SAB would release here - too many competitors in the market though)

Re: the cheap beer thread

American/American Light (made by Pittsburgh Brewing Co.) is about 10 bucks or less a case, not too bad of a taste after the first one.

Haffenreffer's if I can find it; Olde English 800 if I can't.

If I'm not in a 40 oz/malt mood, Schlitz or Carling's Black Label.

PBR, around me you can buy a 30 pack for $14. great deal.

I think it tastes better than Bud/Coors/Miller, and is a lot cheaper.

it's obv. better than Busch or any other mass produced budget beer at similar price points.

anything cheaper is just pure garbage that is fine for college drinking games but nothing else

Absolutely correct. It is bottled beer taste in a can. Around here you can get a 30 pack of key light for 15. Much better than shelling out 20 for a 30 pack of bud or miller

When I was a young`un, they sold Headwreckers in 16 oz glass bottles that had little puzzles on the underside of the cap. They still have those?

Our fraternity soda machine was stocked with all manner of cheap beer - the beer button said "SATAN" on it. Quick story: there was a presidential debate on campus and our house was near the athletic center where the debate was being held. So, we had cops in our house all day. One goes downstairs to get a soda and walks upstairs with a Stroh's in his hand, laughing. He hands it to me and says to the other cops "Watch out for that Satin button!" (mispronunciation his, as he was a St. Louis hick cop). Also note that I was 19 at the time and drank the beer sitting next to him on the couch. And I was high.
