Poker After Dark discussion thread (week of 3/12)

It's another new week (finally) of Poker After Dark, this week's table has:

Jennifer Harman
Jennifer Tilly
Phil Gordon
Phil Ivey
Patrik Antonius
Erick Lindgren

Makes an interest lineup, and like freekobe said in his poll thread, "fans" of Phil Gordon are in for a treat (if I read that post correctly).

If you were spending your time looking at her cleavage while PA was sitting right next to her, you must be gay.

Re: Poker After Dark discussion thread (week of 3/12)

-Everytime Ivey and PA were in a hand vs. each other it was like "oh baby!". Just so highly anticipated...

-J.Till in that hand vs. Harman: Very amatuer-ish w/ the reach for the chips then check. She shoulda bet the turn, and bet the river the exact same bet (if she woulda made the bet) on the river. Yet who can flame her w/ those pillows on her chest. Muah [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]

-PG and Lindgren...eh. I thought Lindgren was gonna rip em for what he wrote in his "column" fueled by the blog piece by Negreanu til I forgot that this batch of PAD was filmed way back in Oct./Nov. '06 LOL. Still, It woulda been dope if those 2 went to blows.

Doesn't DN do the same thing, calling out other pros?

Gordon to Antonius "At what age did you realize you were the chosen one Patrik?"

Re: Poker After Dark discussion thread (week of 3/12)

Gordon obviously has a deep need to be approved of. We saw it last time he was on PAD and we instantly saw it again. PA says he put Eric on a diamond draw and Gordon instantly says, "Me too", which of course, sparked the incident. Lindgren's response was due to Gordon's own insecurity, at least that's how I see it. Gordon and Hellmuth are very, very similar in this manner. Gordon desperately wants to be a part of the "in" crowd, as does Hellmuth. Gordon (and Hellmuth) knows that Ivey, Lindren, Antonius, Harman, are considered poker royalty and are extremely popular. Gordon really wants to be in that group as well. Since he's not going to get more popular, his only hope is to prove how good, how smart, etc., he is. He does this by calling out hole cards post-play. He did it last time he was on the show as well. When Eric called him on it, he instantly realized how bad he sounded, got totally embarassed, and had to shut up. Hellmuth just keeps talking however.

But according to DN, he's good enough to do so and Gordon isn't. This is the same thinking as people who hear someone say the president isn't doing very good and they say "Can you do better? NO? STFU!"

I highly doubt I'm as good as any players on TV, but if they pooch a hand bad enough, I believe I have the right to correctly say how bad they botched the hand.

By the way, did anyone see Ivey make that fish face at Gordon at the very end of the show, before Shana's sign-off? He looks at Gordon and the camera, and puffs out his cheeks and widens his eyes like a fish, then smirks at Lindgren.

LOL, I didn't realize that was supposed to be a fish face or directed at Gordon, just thought he was being goofy. That's hilarious if that's what it was!

I thought it was pretty funny that they were blurring the logo on PA's shirt when everyone else was wearing Full Tilt logos.

I've obviously been giving Tilly too much credit as a poker player. A bracelet in the women's event must not count for much.

Ivey's look of bewilderment was awesome.

Guys, Tilly obviously checked behind b/c she didn't wanna knock PA out. This way, she can continue to sit next to him and fantasize.

Re: Poker After Dark discussion thread (week of 3/12)

Didn't she say something about giving PA credit for quad kings?

I suppose she was trying to induce a bluff out of PA and then check-raise. But still, you have to bet that hand at some point in time.

But still poorly played. I never had any respect for her game and believed that she got this far based on C-grade acting and her looks rather than her game and I was right.
