Very thin valuetown

5/10 6 handed game on WPX

SB opens, I 3bet in the BB with J[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 7[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], he caps, I call.

Flop: Q[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 2[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 7[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]
He checks, I bet, he calls.

Turn: Q[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]
He checks, I bet, he calls.

River: K[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]
He checks. Valuetown?

There are plenty of times to vb versus Ace high, I wouldn't here though for fear of AK and other better hands simply because he took such a weird line.

This looks a lot like a PP, the question you have to ask yourself is it 88-JJ or 33-66.

I'd check.

Re: Very thin valuetown

It sure looks like a pocket pair lower than Qs, or perhaps AK. AJ, AT might call but many other hands beat you. I'd just check. I think it's close anyway and you don't want to be check raised. Just show it down.

Why do you 3 bet with J7s btw? I'd just call that one.

Not sure this is right, but I'd check behind on the flop and try to get 2 and only 2 BBs in on the turn/riv. As played, you have to worry about him weird-playing (raising with crap like AJ or monsters like AQ+,KK+) you too much on the river to bet I think.

I agree with this, but I don't agree that he has a good shot at having 88-JJ.

I lean more towards a value bet here. I think a King takes a bet/call like more often than a c/r line, in fear of opening himself up to a 3-bet. If he got passive with a big hand so be it. I feel like an idiot value betting the worst hand here but a bigger one when I check and he shows ATo.

Bet. He has ace high like always.
Why cap it and check a non scary flop for a pocket pair?

It is posible he has a higher pocket pair or ace king tho.

It is close.

I think the pf 3-bet is fine btw.

Re: Very thin valuetown

If he's playing like this it's not that bad, but I don't really love it.

Check this flop 0% of the time

I need to start restealing more in preflop situations like this.

Do you make the same move if villain is on BT instead of in SB --> we'll be OOP?
How does your play vary if villain is LAG vs. TAG vs. LP?

Thanks

Valuetown.

Pf looks a bit too much. I'd rather have a somewhat better hand to punish a loose stealer (K8s, J9s, 55 etc).

Re: Very thin valuetown

I think those who say this looks like a pocket pair are horribly wrong. A pocket pair bets that flop 100% of the time. When he doesn't donk the river his range is mostly A high and I think I missed a bet. I checked and he had ATo.

does ATo always call, how much do u discount those holdings in the ev calc?

this is close for me i bet tho. i think i bet J6 too and check J5. I didnt base that on a range with percentages i assigned or anything just kinda my intuition?where would u guys check if u said bet where would u bet if u said check?

I know we wouldnt be 3betting J4s probably but I just want to get an idea of when u guys think this is worth a valuebet more or less.

With this action if I had J4s and the flop was Q42 instead of Q72 I would still bet the river.

Re: Very thin valuetown

J3s on a Q32Q board is easily a bet twice.

I really think only the river is interesting in this hand.
