Sexiness?

SB is somewhat of a spaz. His turn lead range is pretty huge. UTG is most certainly not calling the reraise without a monster draw (which he would raise with himself) a set (which again, he would raise) or top two, which he *might* smoothcall with.

I would fold this, but i'm only posting my response to see why I'm wrong.

Given your reads, I would have to say SEXINESS.

Re: Sexiness?

Given CO and Button behind I can see your reasoning. Sometimes I just feel the SEXINESS though.

Fine if sb is that weak. Otherwise it's hard to put you on a big hand and a decent player should call you with any marginal+ holdings.

I like it for a lot of reasons. Not somethign I'd pull regularly though.

Re: Sexiness?

I don't see how raise can be right here. Surely SB missed his CR on the flop, and you are a dog to every possible hand UTG could have. That board is so draw heavy, I don't think you have any fold equity with your raise.

TheRempel 02-18-2007 11:38 PM

Re: Sexiness?

Well I certainly have fold equity against the UTG caller, and the whole point is that is all that really matters. I have yet to see the SB c/r the flop with a set; he may have two pair though.

Re: Sexiness?

I really think it's situation dependent and Rempel obviously had reasons to believe fold equity is very good here. This, at minimum, is good for metagame.

Personally, I do something like this 6 handed probably once every 20 orbits... and only against very specific opponents.

Re: Sexiness?

Rempel,

I have 2 questions:

1) Is "sexiness" a new euphemism for "lagishness"?

2) When you make that raise on the turn after raising pre and then checking the flop, what hand do they put you on?

TheRempel 02-19-2007 07:37 AM

Re: Sexiness?

1) Lagishness is not a word.

2) It doesn't matter what they put me on if they never call. Two people checked behind me on that board. The SB, as I said, has a huge range, one that I expect to be ahead of a lot, and when I'm not I have quite a few outs. Once in a while he has some kind of sick two pair + nut heart hand and I'm drawing almost dead but against his range getting 2.25:1 on setting him all in I feel it's the best play when you have a good gestalt as I had at this table. There are also quite a few made hands (mostly two pair) that I would hit on this turn.

But your FE is precisely dependant on what they do put you on, especially as none of your backup draws are to the nuts. Of course if you're playing with idiots who both can't read hands and also fold too much then it doesn't matter.

You should realize as well that FE also depends on the 2 players yet to act behind you, and one of whom may well have checked a set on a draw heavy board on the flop. Your play works best when you are in last position.

Re: Sexiness?

Well yes they generally are idiots who don't go beyond first level thinking in most regards. No party player is ever checking a set behind on the flop on a draw heavy board, and if they are that scared they are as likely to fold it on the turn as they are to check the flop. The two players have acted; on the flop. I raise alot and subsequently check a lot of flops. No players on party are checking behind that flop with a strong hand. My only concern is if someone else turns a really big draw and decides to play for stacks with it.

In the end my queens held up as his QT and two garbage hearts missed.

some of the best bluffs are where you dont represent anyting at all but you know youre opponent still is going to have a very tough time calling you.
