What don\'t you know?
This thread is about things you don't know how to do but probably should.
Iron. I have never ironed anything. I've never watched someone iron. I have no idea how to do it. |

Re: What don\'t you know?
I can't iron either. I also don't know anything about cars other than how to drive them and put gas in them. I can't cook anything more elaborate than grilled cheese, either.

Don't know how the !@#$ to get rid of my slice (you try golfing with backwards clubs and having to stand on the wrong side of the ball sometime!) Don't know how to get my wife to shut up (this one I really am going to work on........soon) I'm sure I'll thin of some more |

FWIW, I'm pretty handy around cars, but I don't think it's ever worth doing the oil change yourself. Oil + filters are probably around $10, plus you have to dispose of the oil. Most mechanics I know don't even bother changing their own oil. |

I'm pretty good at hand-eye coordination sports, but I don't know how to dive.

Re: What don\'t you know?
I have never ironed anything either. But ironing is pretty useless - just throw it in the drier with a damp towel, and in 5 minutes the wrinkles are gone. I learned that in OOT.

This thread is about things you don't know how to do but probably should. [/ QUOTE ] Swim? I've fished for trout in the Merced River in the summertime, in water up to my waist. I've surf fished along the CA coast, occasionally having waves hit me above waist high. Not dead yet. I run good. |

Re: What don\'t you know?
ok while we're on this topic, how do people not know how to swim? seriously....
i don't remember ever "learning" how to swim.. besides just getting in the water and kicking and flailing arms. do people just sink to the bottom or something? it's pretty intuitive. or are people just scared and panic? |

Re: What don\'t you know?
I don't know how reciting the alphabet backwards helps prove you are not drunk. I can't do it sober. My guess is that people must practice it "like IPPISSISSIM" a few times just to make sure they can do it?
Is that so, or is this a given gift I don't have?? |

Where do you get to a point when you can't figure out the letter before the one you just said? zee-why-ex-doubleyou-vee-you-tee...It's not that hard. |

But I just see it as kind of lame (especially as a brag) - I mean it's not hard to change a diaper - what if you get home after a long day of work, but for some reason your wife is super exhausted from doing her thing? I mean, pitching in occasionally is kind of a nice thing to do I think, and being able to perform basic child rearing tasks, like cleaning your kid, should be something any parent can do. -Al |

[/ QUOTE ] I'll admit I must have some mental block, but to me it's just not the same as counting numbers backwards. I can take a cryptoquote in the newspaper, flip it upside down, and solve it without a pen or pencil, but I can't recite the alphabet backwards. That said, if I spent 5 or 10 minutes practicing it, I'd have it, but why would I do that? That's why I was asking why it's a sobriety thing? |
Re: What don\'t you know?
The mother occasionally teaches me to iron. But I forget immediately after.
I should know how to wire a plug. But I don't. I've never used a card of any sort to buy anything in a shop, i always pay with cash. I should probably change that if i move to the states, as i've heard you're a credit card society. Whenever i put money into an arcade video games machine, i always lose it on the first level. I should learn how to survive for longer. |
Re: What don\'t you know?
I dont know what QFT means on these messageboards, I know its gotta do with a quote, but, I can't figure out the acronym, on that same note, i see SIIHP or something like that on these boards, and I dont know what that means either (stick it in her pu$$?)....
I dont know how I got the * title, but I think it means I suck as a poster. |
