Voluntary statistics survey.
So I've seen a zillion posts asking questions about appropriate levels for various Poker Tracker statistics. The typical response is "it doesn't matter, anything works, concentrate on play, ignore the statistics, yadda yadda yadda." About a week ago Grunch suggested (here) that "someone" should take up a survey to figure out if there are any common trends in the Poker Tracker statistics for long-term winning players. A similar survey was done in the small-stakes limit forum about a year ago, and the results were interesting to most newer players and many long-term players.
So, I've decided to take up Grunch's cause and do a survey. If you are interested in participating, here's what I request: 1. Check your winrate. Fill in your statistics and type in 94% for confidence interval. If your "Minimum BB/100" is greater than zero, you're safely a winning player. 2. Use Poker Tracker to gather the statistics below. 3. Fill out the form posted below and either post here or PM me with it if you'd rather not make your statistics public. 4. Please keep your data separated by stakes. If you're a proven winning player at more than one level, feel free to make separate posts/PMs about each. (Gah, this is going to suck for me.) I'll gather it all together and make a "statistics of winning NL players" post similar to the one made by CallMeIshmael in the limit forums a year ago (here). I've broken the requested data up by where it can be found in Poker Tracker. This is totally voluntary, but the more data I get the better the results will be. |

Pokey,
You're going to need to set some sort of minimum number of hands per level if you're going to have any hope of statistical validity...maybe 20k? I'm honestly not sure even 20k hands is enough....50k might be better, but finding more than a couple of people who've played 50k hands at a level will be a bit tough. |

If you follow the instructions in the first post, you'll only be posting your stats if there's less than a 3% chance you're a losing player. That automatically balances winrate and hands played in a way that weeds out all but those who are highly likely to be winning players. |

It means that you can't get good results without good input. Without MUCH more data, I won't be able to draw any interesting conclusions, and then we'll have nothing. You expect Pokey to type it up for you?! Jeez... Nice winrate, so you cant be doing too much wrong. Steal a lot more blinds. Your W$AtSD is a tad high - maybe you are missing some value bets on the river? You position stats dont add up - why is your VPIP the same UTG+1 as on the button, when the number of hands is totally different? I'll trust the number of hands though, and say I see nothing wrong. |

I think the position stats are messed up because I play a lot in a game where the big blind and small blind are the same amount. From what I can tell this messes with pokertracker, cant think of any other reason for it.
I will take your thoughts about the river value bets into consideration. I posted my stats when I first got PT at about 20K hands and my agression was only like 1.26 so I have cranked it up a little... maybe I should crank it up again. |

I play 6-max and steal 30% of the time. I'm not sure whats a good number for full, but 3,66% cant be right. |

I took a 6 month break before playing poker again starting this month at NL25. I just realised my NL50 hourly rate is a 50% more than my NL100 and NL200 hourly rates with less variance as well. [img]/images/graemlins/frown.gif[/img] I doubt it may be because I'm more comfortable on the NL50 tables, but rather I care less so I tend to LAG it up a lot. Some of my daily PT stats are 45/25/4. |
