Are you who you say you are?

Since we have a lot of variation in our Christianities and just worldviews in general, I thought it might be fun to see what group the internet would put us in.

Belief-O-Matic

FWIW, I ranked 100% in secular humanism (go figure).

My results:

1. Secular Humanism (100%)
2. Unitarian Universalism (96%)

Re: Are you who you say you are?

You must have answered like one question differently than me. Not that surprising that the atheists are going to be very similar since we answered N/A for most of them. Its really geared more towards theists, I suppose.

Re: What the hell???

My answers:

1. None of the above (henceforth NOTA), High. (None of the above because of the addition of "Or not sure. Or not important."

2. NOTA, High

3. NOTA, High

4. NOTA, High

5. NOTA, High

6. Not Applicable, High

7. Only NOTA, High

8. Not Applicable, High

9. Not Applicable, High

10. All sins/wrongs, but not necessarily to a cleric. High. (Though I don't consider many "sins" as wrongs, I still answered this way.)

11. Necessary, High.

12. Humankind is "saved" through human effort rather than through religious or spiritual means. High.

13. Agree, High

14. Disagree, High

15. Not Applicable, High. (Almost put disagree.)

16. Disagree, Medium. (Almost put high. I don't care about marriage that much, but I do care about discrimination.)

17. Agree, High

18. Disagree, High. (Sometimes violence is necessary.)

19. Disagree, High.

20. Not Applicable, Medium.

--------------

I'm going to take it again, but with changing my first few answers from the NOTA to the next best thing, which dubiously includes "Or not sure. Or not important."

Hmmm... close enough.

Re: Are you who you say you are?

My results reflect certain inadequacies of the survey... it doesn't really have a way to express that I have some rather specific ideas about how the world works / should work, but generally reject off-the-shelf religions. It correctly puts Christians at the bottom of the list, but it can't decide what sort of paganism, mysticism, animism, whatever, to put at the top:

1. Hinduism (100%)
2. Mahayana Buddhism (97%)
3. Jainism (88%)

This tool would appear to be nearly useless .
The one thing that I found interesting was that for several questions, the response directly above the secular humanist geared answer, which appeared aimed at buddhists/jains/etc., was often just an explanation of the secular humanist answer...

For example - 'human egotism and greed causes bad things' is not in conflict with 'human nature causes bad things'...

I'm hoping we get some of our pure christian friends results here, though.

Mainline to liberal christian protestants, 100%?

How can this be so when I do not believe Jesus is the son of God?

If I recall the questions correctly, there was only one question related to incarnations of God. I answered that there are no particular incarnations (as opposed to there being only one incarnation, i.e., Jesus), that God is in and is everything.

This one question, being that there is only one question related to an incarnation of God should be the basis for all the christian faiths, don't you think?

I'm confused.

I don't really see a point in a test that doesn't distinguish between finding huge fault with beliefs and not caring about them.

None of these HAVE to be beliefs.

I am a person that does not promote convictions - not for myself, and I presonally feel that they are unhealthy for others as well.

I do think, however, that certain systems for guiding thought are, speaking in terms of probability, more healthy that others.

These are probably the only reasons the test might work for myself, though.
