Re: Give me 6 Hip Hop albums
o.c. did songs with big L. He is fire. Also I would suggest
"More Than Music Vol. 1" By the Diplomats and "Purple Haze" by Cam'Ron. Dipset is an acquired taste though. |
Re: Give me 6 Hip Hop albums
I think eminems best work is on "The Eminem Show". Or the Slim Shady LP/EP.
|
Re: Give me 6 Hip Hop albums
As of right now these are my 6. Feel free to make any last ditch efforts.
Dead Prez - Lets get free Wu-Tang - Forever Big L - Lifestyles ov da Poor and Dangerous, The Big Picture Dr. Doom - ? I think its called First service first come or something like that. Ghostface Killah - Supreme Clientelle |
Re: Give me 6 Hip Hop albums
Tribe Called Quest -- Midnight Marauders, Low End Theory
I'd only get 1 tupac album, but then against I was never a fan. |
Re: Give me 6 Hip Hop albums
I already have the pac albums and I have the tribe album as well. I'm not an enormous tribe fan. they are good though. I like 2pac a lot.

I think its called First service first come or something like that. Ghostface Killah - Supreme Clientelle [/ QUOTE ] Dr. Dooom's album is called First Come First Serve. Instead of Supreme Clientel I would check Raekwon's Only Built 4 Cuban Linx. This is considered by many THE Wu solo album. Of course is you really are a Ghost fan then get Supreme, it's def a great album, but I don't think it's as good as Cuban Linx. |
Re: Give me 6 Hip Hop albums
get some old outkast, like southernplayeristic, atlieans, even Aquemini.
|
Re: Give me 6 Hip Hop albums
Good Choice on the ghost face album. That song "ONE" is CLASSIC wu-tang. especially the trash talk at the end of the song. If you like this album, get the Wu-Tang forever double disc, it is the exact same kind of stuff. The only one on your list I don't approve is Dr. Doom, you should probably pick up "Murda Musick" by Mobb Deep (to see that they were amazing before they signed with idiot G-Unit). But then again it is only because I haven't heard of Dr. Doom, so take this for what its worth. But the beats on Murda Musick are better than anything in the industry today (except the neptunes)

Re: Give me 6 Hip Hop albums
Kordo is right. Outkast is a sound you should not miss. Get all of the albums he said.
|
Re: Give me 6 Hip Hop albums
These guys are right. The first 2 Outkasts are a must. Aquemini is alright too.
|
Re: Give me 6 Hip Hop albums
i'm not a huge outkast fan. but I have heard the first two outkast albums which are good. I just ordered my list. Maybe I'll give reviews if this thread is still around when I get them. Hip Hop is the [censored].

Paper Chaser--Untouchable Chopped & Screwed --I listened to this a lot in the past year.
Snoop Dogg--Doggystyle |
Re: Give me 6 Hip Hop albums
Dr. Dre- Chronic 2001
Nas- Hip hop is dead KOS- Atlantis: Hymns for Disco Mobb Deep- The Infamous Jedi Mind Tricks- Violent by Design |
Re: Give me 6 Hip Hop albums
Mobb Deep - Infamous
Raekwon - Only Built 4 Cuban linx Group Home - Livin' Proof Gangstarr - Moment of Truth The Roots - Illadelph Halflife Twinz - Conversations |
Re: Give me 6 Hip Hop albums
if you liked Illmatic, you really need to get It Was Written. Fantastic album.
Only Built 4 Cuban Linx is the best Wu solo record as someone else said. Some Outkast is crucial. Another group I'm surprised not to see mentioned at all is the Roots. Their newest, Game Theory, is hot, as were Things Fall Apart, Illadelph Halflife, The Roots Come Alive, etc. I gave El-P - Fantastic Damage another listen today after ignoring pretty much everything in the Def Jux catalog for a few years and that album is actually pretty damn good. That and Company Flow - Funcrusher Plus are important if you're interested in some of the really alt-rap stuff that has come out. A lot of it is crap in my mind, but I think a few of the early Def Jux albums and some Soundbombing-era Rawkus stuff is worth a listen. The stuff you're getting now is basically classics which is a great place to start. Just ignore anyone who tells you to check out Dip Set or Cam'Ron or any of those clowns, and make sure you pick up It Was Written at some point. |

I've always been a fan of JMT, but Paz mostly rode off the greatness of Stoupe. I like Vinnie Paz a LOT more than a lot of other people do, but Stoupe made JMT. But this album, it's the opposite; the beats are still doooope, but Paz is a borderline great emcee on this outing. Probably in my top five albums of the year, and maybe top three. OP: Little Brother - The Minstrel Show Clipse - We Got It 4 Cheap Vol. 2 Clipse - We Got the Remix Lil Wayne - Dedication 2 Supastition - Chain Letters Louis Logic - Sin-A-Matic |

Re: Give me 6 Hip Hop albums
Creepin On a Come Up is much better than E1999. 1st of the month is one of the worst songs ever.
|
Re: Give me 6 Hip Hop albums
Creepin is nasty, but too short. Plus that one instrumental song hurts it. E1999 is ill and very underrated. Although what Creepin has going for it is two of the dopest most gangsterist cuts ever.
