Official Week 13 FF Thread

. . . because it's never too early to start planning for next week.

QB: Carson Palmer vs Baltimore or Tony Romo vs Giants? Both QBs are on fire but after the Pitts @ Balt game today I'm definately leaning towards Romo. Besides, Giants are imploding with Tiki and their coach criticizing each other.

RB2: Unless Shaun Alexander looks like his old self against GB in MNF I'm not going to play him @ Denver. I have Reggie Bush and can pick up Deuce against SF, but there are better match ups out there.

Right now I'm looking at Addia @ Ten, Maroney vs Detroit, and Jamal Lewis @ Cinn.

Addai's having a great game against Philadelphia, but his fantasy scoring is too inconsistent week in and week out.

Jamal Lewis has 5 TDs in his last 5 games, Ravens is consistently establishing their running game, and Lewis has usually done pretty well against Bengals.

Maroney gets ~59.7 kr yds/gm and is starting to see more screen passes as well. Unfortunately Detroit doesn't score enough TDs recently for Maroney to get enough kr chances. The only reason I would add him now is because he has a relatively good schedule for the rest of the year (Det, @ Mia, Hou, @ Jax, @ Ten).

TE: I am pissed for second guessing myself at the last second and pulling LJ Smith out of the lineup for Crumpler. Even without the TD, LJ Smith would've given me more points. Vick couldn't hit a barn 20 yards away.

They didn't pass to LJ Smith as much as I hoped, so I'll be looking for another TE. Looking at Cooley vs Atl or Ben Watson vs Det.

Edit: Ben Watson, sorry. I was thinking about Cooley from Washington vs Atlanta . . .

Re: Official Week 13 FF Thread

I really don't see how any of these are close.

Tennessee can't stop the run, the Giants can't stop the pass, and Cooley > Washington.

SoloAJ 11-27-2006 12:33 AM

Re: Official Week 13 FF Thread

Romo because Giants Pass D doesn't scare me...and it may stay close enough to need passing (maybe.)

Addai because its TEN and hes proving he is more of the RB than Rhodes (though I'd expect a high yard game with no TD maybe)....Lewis 2nd choice.

And learn Ben Watson's name or else you can't start him.

Tough decision @TE. Two options.

Re: Official Week 13 FF Thread

Here's a good one, which one of these QBs figures to have the best day?

Aaron Brooks (vs HOU)
Charlie Frye (vs KC)
David Garrard (@ MIA)
Jeff Garcia (vs CAR)
JP Losman (vs SD)
Jason Campbell (vs ATL)
Joey Harrington (vs JAX)
Vince Young (vs IND)

I'm leaning towards Campbell or Losman.

LOL I'd go w/ Harrington, G/L.

Re: Official Week 13 FF Thread

This is easy

QB: Romomentum- Giants are falling apart at the seems. Cowboys have a ton of weapons for him to pick from, he doesn't seem like he is going to show his backside any time soon. Keep track of who returns to the defense for the Giants this week too.

RB: Addai- He has been getting better and better each week (it wasn't just this week) and he is pretty good as a receiver. Tenn is teh suck against the run.

TE: Cooley- He has been playing well, he has scored a TD 4 out of his last 5 games. I had to sit Colston today b/c of injury and he picked me up 14 points so that was nice.

Re: Official Week 13 FF Thread

Just a heads up to anyone with Devery Henderson, if Colston is out next week then I'm going to activate him and drop Antonio Bryant.

So don't start him, because he'll end up doing nada.

Just because Tennesee can't stop the run doesn't mean the Colts won't pass. In the last Colts vs Tennessee game the play calling was 31 pass / 34 run and Rhodes did most of the damage (20 for 84 vs Addai's 13 for 62).

Re: Official Week 13 FF Thread

Ancient,

Look for Addai to proggressively get more and more of the load as the season progresses, as he has. This doesn't mean that him and Rhodes couldn't split next week but week 5 Addai and week 13 Addai are way different.

EDIT: Just know that I think Jamal Lewis and Addai are very close and I would have a hard time with this too. The best plan is to drink a lot and whatever gut feeling arises go with it!

Everyone saying "Romo over Palmer not close" is on crack IMO.

Madtown 11-27-2006 01:15 AM

Re: Official Week 13 FF Thread

Also, I don't think my decisions are too close except at WR, but I'll post them anyway.

Dynasty league, TD only, crazy-ass scoring, yadda yadda

1 QB: Brees vs SF, Pennington @ GB, Garrard @ MIA
2 RB: Westbrook vs CAR, Gore @ NO, McGahee vs SD, Caddy @ PIT
* 2 WR: DJax @ DEN, Fitzgerald @ STL, Horn vs SF, Cotchery @ GB, A Bryant @ NO
1 TE: Heap @ CIN, Stevens @ DEN
1 K: Stover @ CIN, Tynes @ CLE

* As mentioned above, I could activate Devery from my reserve roster, which would mean dropping a WR, likely Antonio Bryant. I don't think this would be a big loss; his numbers have sucked since Week 2 and his DUI makes me nervous for his future in SF. On the other hand, I think platooning DJax/Fitzgerald/Horn is still a very solid option at WR for this year, and it allows me to retain both Bryant and Henderson until next year, when I should have a better idea of their situations for 2007 (ie, whether Horn retires, whether the Niners draft/sign some new WRs).

Palmer vs Baltimore makes this a reasonable position to take this week. In general though, anyone saying Romo over Palmer is indeed on crack.

My gut says Jamal Lewis.

I think a lot of Addai support is a kneejerk reaction to the Eagles game. I'm not saying that the Titans will be any better against the run, but Addai has been inconsistent and Colts have a lot of offensive options to spread the ball around.

On the other hand, Lewis ran pretty well against a strong Pittsburg run defense, has a history of rushing well vs Bengals, Bengals run defense sucks, and Lewis doesn't share carries.

Triumph36 11-27-2006 01:21 AM

Re: Official Week 13 FF Thread

AncientPC,

The Titans run defense is BAD. I'm talking - as bad as Philadelphia's was tonight. I'm not saying he will score 4 TDs, but he could easily score one. Lewis vs. Addai is close, but Rhodes is getting much less of the ball.

MacGuyV 11-27-2006 01:39 AM

Re: Official Week 13 FF Thread

Yeah, Palmer a few weeks ago had a subpar game by his career standards vs. the Ravens and he still put up good #'s.

SBR 11-27-2006 01:47 AM

Re: Official Week 13 FF Thread

Can someone explain how Romo vs. Palmer is so one sided right now? I think its close but I'd lean towards Palmer. What are you guys basing this pick on? Just this week?

AncientPC 11-27-2006 01:52 AM

Re: Official Week 13 FF Thread

QBs are about the same, although I would choose Palmer in most cases since Cinn's bad defense leads to shootouts. NYG pass defense is just much worse than Baltimore pass defense in this case.

SoloAJ 11-27-2006 02:48 AM

Re: Official Week 13 FF Thread

SBR,

While I think most of these are close, I voted Romo because of the D's they're facing. While I agree that Palmer could put up huge numbers...I will put it this way...

I would look for Romo to be teh more "consistent/convservative" choice, and Palmer to be the "boom or bust" choice...and fantasy football is all about being consistent in my book...

WR2 problems if Colston is back (I probably can't play Henderson then)

Re: Official Week 13 FF Thread

Kind of torn on RBs for next week in another league as well, a bunch of solid matchups. Gore @ is definately playing. Leaning towards Ahman since the Jets are terrible against the run. Indy is as well, but Henry is very hot and cold this year.

SoloAJ 11-27-2006 10:35 AM

Re: Official Week 13 FF Thread

I picked Evans...but I would say that your Evans/Jennings is a toss up prettymuch...But BUF *should* be trailing pretty quick..whereas teh Jets might take some time to get a big lead going....I don't know.

Jamal Lewis ftw of those RBs...he is probably the most consistent lately..and the hottest?

Re: Official Week 13 FF Thread

Big Matchup for me this week. Going against one of the better teams. He has LT, Romo and Baltimore D as well as TO. So I could be in trouble although I'm already in the playoffs but jocking for position.

QB:

Peyton @ Tennessee
Campbell vs Atl

RB (pick 2):

Gore @ NO
Green vs NYJ
Mike Bell vs Seattle
Willis vs SD

WR (pick 3):

Walker vs Sea
Horn vs SF
Devery vs SF
Donte vs Car
Evans vs SD
Williams @ NE

TE:

Gates @ Buf

K:

Gould vs Min

Def:

Chicago vs Min

I guess I'll pick:

Peyton
Walker
Horn
Henderson
Gore
Green
Gates
Gould
Chicago

Any suggestions.

Re: Official Week 13 FF Thread

You might need to switch out Henderson if Colston recovers from his injury. Otherwise he's a definate start.

Re: Official Week 13 FF Thread

You think Stallworth is even worth keeping? They can't throw the deepball with Garcia at the helm.

Spellmen 11-27-2006 11:30 AM

Re: Official Week 13 FF Thread

That all depends on who is available on waivers, his value has definately taken a huge hit

capone0 11-27-2006 11:33 AM

Re: Official Week 13 FF Thread

10 person league:

Marty Booker
Rhodes
Randy Moss (yes he's on the waiver, and I don't think anyone will pick him up)
Harrington
Tatum Bell (I don't like either Denver RB anymore)
Betts
Cadillac Williams

Two big questions, and I suppose they're weather dependent -

SoloAJ 11-27-2006 01:42 PM

Re: Official Week 13 FF Thread

Triumph, I am unsure why you even posted that poll for the Defenses? It seems liek a no brainer...Unless you get SERIOUSLY punished for giving up points...Raiders are a turnover machine.

I voted Pennington Packers. This seems to me another choice of consistent vs. boom/bust....I take Pennington's nice little game over Hasselbecks boom or bust game against the Broncos (who control the clock well generally...dunno now with Cutler)

Triumph36 11-27-2006 02:03 PM

Re: Official Week 13 FF Thread

Solo,

Chargers are a warm weather team coming into a possibly cold weather environment - and Ralph Wilson Stadium can get very windy. However, I suppose with the Bills' flaccid defensive line and LT up against them, it's still not a good matchup even in sub-freezing temperatures. Also remember that Houston's defense sucks and they're playing on the road.

Pennington is my first pick but again if the weather at Lambeau is awful, I might have to go with Hasselbeck.

AncientPC 11-27-2006 05:41 PM

Re: Official Week 13 FF Thread

Raiders are #3 in giveaways, and most of their games tend to be low scoring affairs even against crappy teams.

Buffalo's defense equally sucks, but Chargers on the other hand have the potential to score 30+ easily.

Re: Official Week 13 FF Thread

Should I continue with Bulger or try and make a trade? If so, who should I quickly traget?

I can offer Frank Gore.

Im kind of shaky about Bulger and only have Kitna as a backup. His recent production plus playing the Bears during the Playoffs worries me.

Russ M. 11-27-2006 05:55 PM

Re: Official Week 13 FF Thread

If you're thinking of trading Gore for a QB please join my league. If you are real worried about QBs look to the FA pool and play matchups. That's what I've been forced into thanks to McNabb's injury. I played Joey freaking Harrington this week and got 20+ pts.

AncientPC 11-27-2006 06:01 PM

Re: Official Week 13 FF Thread

Yeah definately don't trade Gore for another QB at this point. I'm sure there are a couple solid fantasy QBs you can pick up from FA. I'm not sure who's available but Jason Campbell vs Atlanta or Leinart @ StL, Philip Rivers @ Buffalo aren't too bad.

You could take a chance with Cutler vs Seattle if he plays well tonight.

Russ M. 11-27-2006 06:03 PM

Re: Official Week 13 FF Thread

Yep I picked up Campbell LAST week in preparation for this week's game against the putrid ATL defense. Campbell has thrown for 2 TDs in his first two games against pretty good defenses in TB and CAR.
