Battlestar Galactica or Lost

I need to pick up another series.

I keep hearing that BG is a terrific show and Lost seems like a must watch.

Any recommendations on which one to watch first?

Pretty sure being a Battlestar Galactica fan is seriously detrimental to your chances of ever getting laid.

In all seriousness though, Lost fking rules, rent season 1 and 2 DVDs and watch them.

Yea, well, I'm married, with children, so my chances aren't much related to the TV I watch anymore.

Lost is good, I really like it. BG is better.

For BG, do you need to watch the mini-series before season 1?

No. I haven't seen it and it didn't matter much. I picked up mid-season 1 and was lost a little bit, but caught on.

You definitely don't want to just start in on season 2 though without most of season 1 underway. There's so much long term plot and character development.

Battlestar and it's not even close... Lost is such a joke, you have to suspend reality far more than you do for Battlestar, and it's supposed to take place in our world.

Lost. It's not close. BG wouldn't even be a second series to get into.

The Sopranos, Six Feet Under, 24, are all way better than BG.

BSG hands-down. Lost is for middle-age women with not enough to do.

I think you meant General Hospital, or Days of Our Lives.

Lost is WAY better than you're giving it credit for.

Lost is for women, but Battlestar Galactica is for nerds. And there are better options for women(Firefly) and nerds(Firefly).

Have you seen The Wire or The Shield?

I have a hard time believing that anyone who says this has actually seen the new Battlestar Galactica. But then again, I don't think Firefly is for nerds, either.

BSG is just as un-sci-fi as Firefly and is on par with Firefly's writing.

Watch the 2-hour pilot episode of Lost first. If that's not enough to completely hook you on the show, then it's really not for you, so move on to BSG.

BG>>Lost. BG won Time's best TV show of 2005, though I believe it's second best after The Wire.

Watch the mini-series first.

Firefly is an even better show that you may not have seen and it's only one season long.

It IS close, but I'd go with BSG.

By the way, the miniseries comes with the season 1 dvd set, so seeing it doesn't require any extra effort or cost (except a coupla hours, and it's definitely worth that).

We're just on hiatus until January, so they can be posted without interruption.

I wouldn't have posted in here at all, but I talked to Adrians at a poker game about Lost back when I started that thread, so I couldn't resist.

Lost would win simply because way more people have seen it. The weekly thread gets like 500 posts. BG is the next series I plan to watch, always heard good things about it. I loved Firefly and Serenity (Serenity even more so after watching it with the Joss Whedon commentary). I'm a big fan of Lost too.

Re: Battlestar Galactica or Lost

BG: Best show on TV, no joke.

Lost: I watched one episode of it. They said we were going to see this monster that was harassing them. We did not. Merry from Lord of the Rings and some Iraqi dude went off and made out. Delenn from Babylon 5 turned into a dingo and stole somebody's baby. Then at the end of the episode they get the opening to an underground somethingorother blown, but the handladder to get down is all busted AND SO YOU JUST WAIT TILL NEXT SEASON WHEN WE'LL TEASE WITH MORE SCENES OF THE MONSTER. Lame.

Only good scene was some semi-pretentious guy talking about how carefully you have to handle old dynamite- "You have to go very slow-" boom. Hilarious.

I LOVE LOST.

But watch BSG. It's a really incredibly awesome piece of TV and it doesn't CONSTANTLY blueball you like Lost does. I love Lost, but which do I enjoy more week after week? Definitely BSG.
