Billionaire Poker Players
OK...
1. Is their a (famous) poker player who has a BANKROLL of $1 million or more? NOT ANDY BEAL, HE IS NOT A POKER PLAYER 2. Surely there must be - the pros (like Ivey) play high stakes cash games with pots worth millions of dollars. The "rules" of poker would say that they therefore must have an adequate Bankroll of Billion dollars....? 3. There is about to be a $10m buy-in Sit n Go with 6 players (Ivey, Gus etc...) which backs up point 2. 4. The organisers of the $10m tourny plan to do a $25 million Sit n Go in 2006 and a $100m in 2007. LINKS: 1. 1st Poker Billionaire Liquid poker forum post about the $10m tourny Any info would be appreciated. |

Re: Billionaire Poker Players
Lots of live "pros" brag to being under bankrolled and say they can just get the money from somewhere else if they need it. Mike Matusow refinances his house (worth 300-350K as a "reserve") Daniel Negraneau has one time said he played 40-80 limit on a $3,200 bankroll (yeah, nuts imo) Others such as Barry Greinstein have been in debt as much as a million dollars less than 5 years ago.
In my opinion, the truely high stakes players have a lot of gamble in them and have very poor bankroll management. Although there is an arguement for if they do ever go broke, they'll have no problem finding stakers so it's really impossible for them to go broke. For instance if my poker coach ever went broke, I would send him $20K as soon as he wanted it. And yes, I bet there are billionaire poker players, fish and sharks alike. |

I'll say Andy Beal. I don't know if he counts as a poker player.

Who? |

If posting on 2+2 qualified you for the special olympics, this post would put you in division 1.

The "rules" of poker would say that they therefore must have an adequate Bankroll of Billion dollars....? [/ QUOTE ] No way. At 4000-8000 an adequate bankroll is more like $4 million. The biggest roll I've heard of is Phil Ivey's, and that was $8 million. |
Re: Billionaire Poker Players
w/ 2.4 mill, i would sit down at that 4-8 game.
i heard ivey made 18 mill in 2005? exaggeration? |
Re: Billionaire Poker Players
Daniel Negraneau has one time said he played 40-80 limit on a $3,200 bankroll
haha, this was me 3 yrs ago. i had 4800 and survived for 1/2 a yr playing 10-20 spread and 40-80 before taking my last 1k into cyperspace. i'm doing much better now. |
Re: Billionaire Poker Players
Bill Gates.
Oh, also Andy Beal. |

Chaus roll is/was allegedly around the same size. |
Re: Billionaire Poker Players
If you are interested in the bankrolls of the big game players you should pick up Professor, the bamker and the sucide king.It is not only a great read but it gets into the amount of income the big players have at there disposal.

Admittedly I don't remember where I got $8 million from, so I could be wrong, but much more than that seems incredible. |
Re: Billionaire Poker Players
I don't agree with the rationale outlined in that blog. Arguing that poker pros can become billionares by investing their winnings in the stock market is completely different from arguing that poker pros can become billionares through winning that sort of money over the years. |

Re: Billionaire Poker Players
It's also less impressive when it is a billion dollars after 40 years of inflation.
|
Re: Billionaire Poker Players
I would say Andy Beal.

Re: Billionaire Poker Players
Bill Gates is known to play $3/$6 pr $4/$8 when in Vegas.

Re: Billionaire Poker Players
I'm suprised noone's mentioned Andy Beal.
|
Re: Billionaire Poker Players
How 'bout that Andy Beal?
|
Re: Billionaire Poker Players
How much are Paul Phillips and Richard Brodie worth? Their pre-poker earnings should put them high on any list.

Re: Billionaire Poker Players
Paul Phillips doesn't play poker anymore. He's a scrabble player/Rennaissance man now.

Re: Billionaire Poker Players
I think that Phil Gordon is worth about $100 million, but that's because of the dot-com boom, not poker.
Of course, there's always Andy Beal. |

Re: Billionaire Poker Players

There's some rich banker from Texas who play some poker. Something like Billy, no it's Andy Beal.
