Michigan Ohio State Ticket Price

They are already giong for $600-$1500 per ticket on ebay, and more than that on stubhub. Has anyone ever seen a more expensive ticket?

Yes. A friend once sold tickets to a Miami-ND game at South Bend for $2K each back in the Catholics vs. Convicts era.

msu game is kinda scary for the bucks. msu has talent but chumped numerous games, buckling under pressure. at this point they have nothing to lose (no pressure now) and this is their only real shot at some sort of redemption/pride/respect.

It seems I haven't watched as much football as you have this year, but it seems to me that Michigan is as good if not better than Ohio State.

FWIW, even if both teams were had a 94% chance in each game the rest of the way, one team would have a loss more often than not.

I'm not sure Michigan is as good, but that is somewhat beside the point. The main idea is Michigan still as at Penn State and Iowa left on the schedule. While Michigan is better than both teams, there is a significant chance to lose in either of those contests.

Michigan simply has more losable games along the way.

It is interesting that you post this, as I am going to this game regardless of the cost (well up to $1k prolly.) I was wondering what the masses here think is the better idea. If I buy the ticket now, it will be less expensive than later if both teams are undefeated. Conversely, if one of the teams suffers a loss, it will be less expensive later on. What to do, what to do?

also, tOSU does have redundancies in their system

They have above adequete depth at nearly all positions including the exposed, key ones like QB and RB

I'm not sure if Michigan has a quality back-up for Henne

Injuries do happen....look at how key depth has been for Louisville

That's a really good point. Although neither team would be close to what it is without the starting QB (naturally), the cupboard behind Henne is currently bare. Michigan may not be heavily reliant on its passing game (seems moreso on D this year and then balance on O), but having Forcier back there is going to be a huge problem, especially against a team like the Buckeyes. The O-line is also quite thin. Michigan does have some decent horses in the backfield, although none of them hold a candle to Hart right now.

I would expect about a 17 point line at this point. 21 @ MSU. 30+ against Illinois, Indiana, Northwestern. Probably -5 against Michigan is my bet.

hmmm...You might be right Troy

Sagarin would have tOSU about 17 points

Dunkel would have closer to 23 against Minnesota

those are generally the two best widely available power rankings

Johnnybeef:

I think you should buy now. Ohio State is not going to lose a game before they play Michigan, which means the demand in Columbus is only going to go up. Obviously if Michigan is also undefeated it will be the toughest ticket in Ohio State history, but if they lose I see the market staying about where it is now.

The thing is that most tickets will have no price at which people will sell- people in Columbus literally have been waiting decades for this exact situation and will not even consider selling at any price. Reminds me of the Red Sox-Yankee playoff games at Fenway...there were very few tickets to buy at any price.

Re: Michigan Ohio State Ticket Price

I wouldn't say "is." They could lose, probabilty is they won't. Did anyone expect VT to get crushed by Miami at home last year or lose to FSU in the ACC Title game. Or Miami losing to GT on the road late in the year. Things happen. tOSU is a VERY good team, but I wouldn't put it without a doubt that they will go undefeated.

They have looked at times to be the best team in the country but have looked shaky for halves of games (PSU). 1 bad game can spoil a National Championship season (UW - Miami).

Capone,

Equating Virginia Tech v. Miami to anything OSU has left before Michigan is beyond ridiculous. Miami is MIAMI...they always have a ton of talent even in down years.

Not only is OSU exponentially better than VT ever was, every team they play, with the possible exception of MSU, is absolutely horrible.

capone0 10-04-2006 01:07 PM

Re: Michigan Ohio State Ticket Price

I said they have a pretty damn good chance to go undefeated, I just wouldn't put it down as a total definite for any team. Injuries happen, other things happen. With that saying if they are healthy, OSU should breeze by this schedule without much thought. They are that good, Troy Smith is THAT good (very jealous of this fact as well) but things can happen, will they, probally not but you can't ever set anything in stone in sports.

I'd be really surprised if one loss affected the ticket price that much. It'll still be a very meaningful game.

Re: Michigan Ohio State Ticket Price

One loss by either team probably drops the price by 33% or more. If both teams are undefeated we are likely looking at 1 vs 2, Michigan at OSU. Maybe Michigan is #3 is USC is still undefeated. A regular season 1 vs 2/3, late in the season, that's already an intense rivalry?

It's always a meaningful game, but that scenario is a perfect storm of scalping. My [censored] roommate bought student tickets off his brother's exgirlfriend for $30. I hate him so much.

EDIT to say: Just so we're clear, I'm talking about the ticket price relative to what it is now. I recognize that the later in the season and the longer these teams go undefeated, the more the ticket price will rise.

That's no small reason why OSU & Michigan travel well. In a lot of cases it's easier and cheaper to drive to a road game, pay for a hotel and watch in a different stadium. God knows I've been to Memorial Stadium many times and been in the minority when watching Indiana play UM or OSU.

My point, though, is that unless one of the teams absolutely collapses, I don't think tickets are going to get any cheaper than they are right now. And there's a solid chance that they will get significantly more expensive.

I can't imagine a regualr season college football game in a 100,000 seat stadium selling for more. It reminds me of Beanie Baby prices
