Anything here in this fine print we should be worried about?
I don't like that they can change the terms whenever they want, but I guess that is standard fare for a prmotion.

Re: Another Mansion free bet

I'm a little concerned becuase my account is in GBP. The terms suggest you need to wager $1100 USD on the dot. I just spoke to a Mansion CSR and he said the rate they are using now is $1.88 = 1GBP, which means 585.11 is the currency equivalent of $1100. But what if the rate changes during the week?

Anyway, just want to cover all of my bases before placing the bet.

Ortho 08-25-2006 06:00 PM

Re: Another Mansion free bet

Then just wager a little low, say £575. That'll take care of any fluctuation worries.

And, this was a problem with the last one. CS were telling people they could have $190 for the £100 bet, but then only refunded $188 or something like that. I took $180 so as to never have to think about it and had no problem.

I'm new to sports betting, but this looks too good to be true.

Need some help -

You bet $1100 on the Steelers v's Miami using the -5 on the dropdown box. If you lose you get your money back, but I assume if you win you get your stake back plus $1000.

Sorry for being new to this, but I can't see how its possible to lose. Can any of you guys help me understand?

USD Qualifying Currency Equivalents: GBP580

ok i don't know exaclty which game i'm supposed to put a bet on.

is it this one:

-5 / 1.91 Pittsburgh steelers?
(i use decimal)

MicroBob 08-25-2006 06:05 PM

Re: Another Mansion free bet

It looks like it has to be $1100 on the dot.
But I really suspect it's UP TO $1100 for the refund.

If it's $1100 on the dot then I could see this being a real issue for non-Americans with fluxuating currencies.

But I think we need to confirm that it's not "UP TO $1100" like it was for the soccer-bet last week.

Re: Another Mansion free bet

Ok, so what's the best way to hedge the bet on another site and ensure a profit? I have no idea about this sportsbetting business.

brendanb438 08-25-2006 06:12 PM

Re: Another Mansion free bet

Pinny has the Dolphins at +5 -118. Who can do the math for the perfect hedge bet on this one with the above info? Steelers are -110 at -5 on Mansion.

Re: Another Mansion free bet

Bet $540 on Miami +5, -118
Bet $1100 on Steelers, -5, -110

If Steelers win, you win $460, if not you win $457.63 after the rebate from Mansion. That's as close to perfect as I'm gonna get on a quick trial and error calculation, and I took long enough that I'm sure someone else already beat me to it with something actually perfect.

BobJoeJim 08-25-2006 06:23 PM

Re: Another Mansion free bet

Okay, just read the terms, you have to bet a MINIMUM of $1100, and if you lose they will refund $1100 of your total. They list specific currency equivalents, so don't worry about fluctuations, if your betting in GBP, it's a 580 refund if you bet 580 or more and lose.

Obviously if you're hedging you want to bet the minimum since anything more than that won't be refunded, but betting less means you don't qualify.

shabun 08-25-2006 06:25 PM

Re: Another Mansion free bet

I think I'm getting the hang of this. Can you place a bet on Mansion for Miami as a hedge or do you have to go to a different site?

You have to go to a different book or they will not refund you shabun.

Also anyone who hasn't signed up for Mansion and wants an extra $90 kickback I have an affiliate who if you sign up through and place a minimum $50 sportsbet (Which this one would count towards) you get the $90 in Neteller or Paypal. PM for details.

Re: Another Mansion free bet

Tips for everybody:

1. Do NOT place a bet for Miami on Mansion or you will be disqualified for the refund. Find a different site if you want to bet Miami also and lock-in a guaranteed profit.

2. Make sure you place the bet in the SPORTSBOOK and noth the SPORTS EXCHANGE. They look very similar and it's easy to get confused.
If you bet in the wrong place then you are letting a lot of money ride on this game.

Make sure to bet on Miami on a site other than mansion or you wont get a refund. You will +$460 if the Steelers win and +$456.63 if Miami wins. Nothing more or less.

i don't see how they can afford to do this. have they ever had money problems before? this really seems like something a desperate sportsbook would do to get money in their system. i am not saying this is necessarily the case. but i would be a little leary of somebody asking for $1100 now, so that you can get $500 later.

MicroBob 08-25-2006 07:27 PM

Re: Another Mansion free bet

hulk3 - no, you wouldn't lose anything. you immediately get refunded your bet if it's a 'push' (the final margin is exactly 5).

kissme: -118 means that you are wagering $118 to win $100 more. each site automatically calculates this for you before you place the final-wager. Or you can use a calculator and figure it out.

If you bet $236 you win $200.
If you bet $354 you win $300.
If you bet $472 you win $400.
and so on.

Here's another example so you can see how it works.

If you bet $1100 on PIT via Mansion
and bet $472 on MIA via PinnacleSports:

If PIT wins:
+$1000 on Mansion
-$472 on Pinnacle
= +$528

If MIA wins:
refund on Mansion so $0 there
+$400 on Pinnacle
= +$400

So this doesn't work out evenly.
But lets you have some fun still rooting for PIT...while locking-in a profit in case they lose.

Re: Another Mansion free bet

spino1 - aside from their video-poker issue and their problem with the hand-generator on the poker tables are there any other issues with Mansion?

I'm pretty sure that they are considered a reputable site and I haven't read of anyone having a problem cashing-out from them or anything like that.

FWIW - it appears everybody (including me) got back their free $190 on the Tottenham English soccer promo that they did last week (almost identical to the current Pittsburgh Steelers promo).

Bellagibro 08-25-2006 07:34 PM

Re: Another Mansion free bet

I got my last sports bet back on Tottenham but was pissed off when they changed their T+C while I told my friend on a short roll that he should whore their Roulette tables. He still made like $200 but it took him a week to play all that Bacarrat.

MicroBob 08-25-2006 07:35 PM

Re: Another Mansion free bet

Also - EVERYBODY needs to be aware that it will take a little while to get your money back and it will be tied-up for a few days.
If you HAVE to get the money back immediately then don't do the bet.

1 - it took almost 3 days for them to refund the soccer bet stuff last week. Might take even longer this time since it's more money.

2 - They require drivers-license scan or fax before they allow you to cash-out. And it takes them a minimum of 48-hours for them to process that. And they then say that it will PROBABLY be enough...but they might require further documents if their investigative team decides it would be best.
etc etc etc.
This is even if you just deposit and cash-out via neteller.
They STILL require the drivers-license pic/scan.

In other words, it IS a bit of a hassle to deal with them and if you are going to be impatient about getting your money back then you shouldn't do it.

I look at it as receiving a 30% return-on-investment for a 2-week commitment on my $1600 (if I bet both teams).

I haven't checked the latest percentages at ING...but I'm pretty sure they can't compete with this.
