**** OFFICIAL Premiership 2006-07 season Thread!*****
Season starts this weekend, anyone else pumped? This will be the first season I have followed. I would appreciate any comments for things to look out for during the season. Hopefully all you Euros don't mind me starting this thread, but come'on, someone had too, might as well be the "new guy".
My predictions: Arsenal will dominate and I think Chelsea's outcome will be surprising in some manner. |
Re: **** OFFICIAL Premiership 2006-07 season Thread!*****
I'd be surprised if Chelsea wins it with less than 10 points from 2nd place.

Re: **** OFFICIAL Premiership 2006-07 season Thread!*****
I have tickets to my first real Arsenal game v Villa on Saturday! (I went to a Carling Cup game at Highbury 2 years ago but they played a reserve team).
I am stoked! |

Re: **** OFFICIAL Premiership 2006-07 season Thread!*****
Although Chelsea didn't look great in the Charity shield, I'm highly doubtful Arsernal can overthrow Chelsea. Chelsea is just too deep and have way too much talent.

Re: **** OFFICIAL Premiership 2006-07 season Thread!*****
Arsenal aren't the biggest threat to Chelsea

^ who do you think is? Liverpool? [/ QUOTE ] Not sure but the fact that Arsenal have 0 healthy defenders will make it difficult for them and they are about to lose one of their better attacking players to Real Madrid |
Re: **** OFFICIAL Premiership 2006-07 season Thread!*****
I'm stoked for the season also. I even switched from cable to DirecTV so I could get Setanta Sports and a DVR (and also for NFL Sunday Ticket). So by the time I wake up the next 38 Saturdays, I'll have the early game on my DVR. Should be sweet.

^ who do you think is? Liverpool? [/ QUOTE ] At bet365.com, the line on Chelsea to win the Premiership is 1.50 Next is Man U at 6.00, then Liverpool at 7.00, and Arsenal at 7.50. Then a huge gap to Spurs at 81.00. The line for the Champions League has Barcelona and Chelsea the favorites, followed by Real Madrid, Man U, Inter, AC Milan, and Aresenal. |
Re: **** OFFICIAL Premiership 2006-07 season Thread!*****
question. if i buy a cesc fabregas jersey, would i be getting "cesc" of "fabregas" on his jersey? he seems like he does it differently for different teams? ive decided that even though i dont like henry that much, i still dig arsenal a good bit.

Re: **** OFFICIAL Premiership 2006-07 season Thread!*****
I don't really understand those lines, other than Chelsea is the favorite.

^ who do you think is? Liverpool? [/ QUOTE ] easily ManU. Though we lost Ruud, we still have scholes, Rooney, Saha, Rossi, and if he recovers well, Smith. That is the best strike situation in the league, even better then chelsea as IMO losing Gudjohnson is going to be a lot bigger then chelsea fans will realize. Schevchenko will probably hit for 30, but Drogba and Crespo haven't really impressed all that much so far. Losing Duff takes away a serious attacking option as when him and Robben played on the wings, they created nothing but havoc since both are two footed. Chelsea is still the strongest team by far, but ManU is easily the second best too |

THey're only weaker up front, they still have a fortress for a defense two great keepers and what is most likely the deepest midfield in the world |

what sites do you guys use to follow the premiership? [/ QUOTE ] http://soccernet.espn.go.com/index?cc=5901 http://www.soccer365.com/ http://msn.foxsports.com/foxsoccer (note: their preview article, http://msn.foxsports.com/soccer/story/5878186, has Spurs finishing ahead of Arsenal. But the biggest shock is that they have Chelsea finishing 2nd, to Liverpool). |
Re: **** OFFICIAL Premiership 2006-07 season Thread!*****

lol @ spurs finishing above Arsenal and Liverpool winning the title [/ QUOTE ] Arsenal only finished 2 points ahead of Spurs last season (and even that was tainted by the food poisoning incident). And the reasoning for Liverpool over Chelsea is that Chelsea will be concentrating on the Champions League. That could lead to Chelsea taking it easy during league games to rest for CL games. |
Re: **** OFFICIAL Premiership 2006-07 season Thread!*****
Arsenals team has improved a lot over their team at the start of last season and Spurs has got worse
|
Re: **** OFFICIAL Premiership 2006-07 season Thread!*****
True, but Arsenal really had a terrible league season last year and Spurs overperformed.

Arsenals team has improved a lot over their team at the start of last season and Spurs has got worse [/ QUOTE ] aresenal is about to lose reyes and they gained Rosicky, Spurs lost Carrick and gained zokora and got Berbatov(which is an upgrade over Mido). Dawson is going to get a lot more playing time in the back 4 and Tom Huddleston is really going to emerge in the midfield. So explain how spurs got worse and aresenal got that much better |

Arsenal have signed Walcott, Fabregas and Hleb have both emerged as big talents and the team is no longer dealing with their best midfielder leaving. Also, have you seen what they are getting for Reyes? Saying Berbatov is an upgrade over Mido is a jump lets see how he adjusts to the style of the premiership first. There is know way to know Muddleston will make a big impact, every top team has a few great prospects who could 'break into the team' |
