I know pretty much nothing about chinese poker, but your flush is worthless and takes one of your 8s, so you can't even put trips in the middle. Going on nothing but instinct I'm going to guess the best strategy is:

Optimal play with this hand is boat, pair, pair. Hero expects to make .39 bets off of this hand in the long run (2-4 structure, bonuses count, no surrender) or .49 with no bonuses.

If you played it like that the top and middle have no chance, and the bottom isn't good either. If for some reason you put two pair in the middle it should either be KK22 or JJ22 so that the bottom is strong. Putting a full house in the top is definitely the right play though.

even if your line was viable to have two pair in the middle, you still picked the wrong two pairs.

KK22x in the middle with JJx on the top >>>>>>>>> KKJJx in the middle and 22x on the top.

fyi, it is pretty obvious to put 88822 in the back.

not yet, because 2-7 in the middle is not a standard... its rather new on the scene where as Chinese Poker is a rather old game.

Fyi, Don Smolen has no plans to update the Chinese Poker simulator to include any new variants. I had emailed him a while back about this.

Somebody else is gonna' have to step up to the plate it seems.

I'd be kind of happy if no one made one, at the moment it seems there is no point in playing online for reasonable stakes because your opponents can play perfectly for a few dollars investment. Maybe I will write my own and not distribute it.

There is no place that spreads 2-7 in the middle online so it doesn't make a difference.
