i heart tommy angelo

I haven't posted many hands lately. Here's one that incorporates a move I'm trying to perfect:

10-20 game, full ring, 100BBish stacks.

4 loose limpers, I complete the SB with

J[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]6[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img].

Flop: 6[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 5[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 3[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]

I check.

BB leads for 80, gets called by cutoff.

I fold.

why play preflop if you are going to fold this flop? I mean I get folding but then why limp at all, where is the value in this hand?

Re: i heart tommy angelo

I think you play it preflop because you can fold this flop not in spite of it. That being said, this is more of a standard fold, rather than a Tommy-esque one.

I personally would almost never call PF in that spot for reasons such as this hand.

Re: i heart tommy angelo

It's true, tommy would fold pre.

But they were sooooooooooted.

I play exactly the same.

I think you should fold this preflop.

Yeah, I didn't mention how bad the limpers were. They were bad. The value, as I saw it, was not so much in the hand's intrinsic value in a vacuum, but rather in how much they would pay off if I happened to hit big.

isn't Tommy known for making big crazy laydowns. And this is analagous to a big laydown?

I had a bad habit of leading in situations like this to "protect my hand". It's a habit I'm trying to kick.

I know I'm not the only one.

LOL Same on both accounts. I call this preflop every time, and I never even thought twice about that... huh.

Personally, I've not yet perfected folding like this but I'm getting pretty good at playing like an idiot.

people seem to disagree about the preflop.

couple people say they lead here, or wonder why i didn't.

Re: i heart tommy angelo

I fold preflop and if I see the flop for some reason I check/fold just like you did. I don't think this hand is out of the ordinary in any way.

Re: i heart tommy angelo

i seem to play much tighter in small blind than most of the people on here. i rarely throw in with hands like Axo or J4s.

axioma 08-03-2006 08:00 AM

Re: i heart tommy angelo

i think hands like Jxs are better in this situation than Axo. (where the x is very small anyway).

TheWorstPlayer 08-03-2006 08:04 AM

Re: i heart tommy angelo

they are both bad

edge 08-03-2006 08:13 AM

Re: i heart tommy angelo

I sometimes complete with Axo but almost never J4s/J6s. Flush draws out of position in a multiway pot are generally not so great whereas two pair on an A-high board is pretty good, and so is hitting trips top kicker.

sometimes i feel that when you complete here and the flop is 66x, you still lose money :/

I would think you would win alot more if the flop was 66x. I might be totally off, but you still have a better kicker than alot of suited connectors (56s,76s) etc.

This is rarer than losing flush over flush.
