Just saw this under the events tab... Any speculation for entry requirements?

The "$2.5M Freeroll" tab in the lobby is where we will be holding events as part of a very big (well, $2,500,000, obviously) promotion. We can't tell you all about it quite yet, but details will be announced in the next two weeks.

O/U on how many entrants go all in first hand?

Re: Stars $2.5 million freeroll

I'm guessing this will be similar to the Paradise or UB $1-million dollar freerolls where you have to qualify for it.

You don't just get to sign-up for the $2.5-mil Stars freeroll and play in that one would be my guess (well, maybe a direct buy-in of 30k FPP's or something).

In the Paradise Million-dollar freeroll you have to earn 100 paradise points to get another entry into their qualifier.
In the qualifier there might be 1500 players competing. And the top 9 advance to the 'big one' (July 22).

Something like that anyway.

There are almost 6k players in the Paradise freeroll.
So roughly $200 value per entry.

Roughly 1-in-100 chance in the pre-qualifier thingees.
So it's about $2 value every time you enter one of those to try to qualify for the big one.

So they really aren't that huge a value. $2 for free just isn't that big a deal.
But they can still be fun.

It likely will target new players, the same as Paradise.

"O/U on the all-inners fist hand?"
lol, no kidding.

How bout the O/U on how much of the field is gone by first break?

If 5k join, I give the over being 3500, and under being less than half.
If 10k join, I give the over being 6200, and under being less than half.

I like your thinking here. In the Paradise one I played in last fall people were dropping like flies. By the 2nd break it was down to around 2000 or so. I know this because it wasnt long after that when I busted.

I finished around 2000th out of 5700 in the Paradise one today.

Was doing well actually and was around 250th place at one point. Was in 500th place or so when I ran into a bigger stack a damn set of 2's.

augie - Back in January I thought said you weren't going to do the VIP program because it wasn't worth it.

Did you change your mind and achieve 'nova' status?

i am very close. i will be there before the freeroll. the party vip program has gone to [censored] and my affiliate on party is a joke.

i was interested in playing some EPT events anyway, and I want to go to atlantis in january, so why not have stars pay for it eh?

MicroBob 07-24-2006 01:31 AM

Re: Stars $2.5 million freeroll

Aha.

yeah, the FPP's for the EPT and PCA stuff are way cool although I'm nowhere near being able to purchase either.

I wasn't doing it at first and only recently did I get going.
Only 70k VPP to go!!

I would hope Supernovas would be able to qualify based on the amount we play there, heh.

I do have one of those tickets, as well.

Thank you for your Email regarding the Moneymaker Millionaire promotion here on PokerStars.

In 2003, Chris Moneymaker, an accountant from Tennessee, took the poker world by storm by winning a World Series of Poker seat on PokerStars and going on to win $2.5 million and the world championship.

The Moneymaker Millionaire is an exciting free offering in which PokerStars is going to make one lucky player a millionaire, just like Chris. In addition, 27 players will win dream vacations to the Bahamas, and hundreds of players will win other cash prizes.

Full details about this promotion are available at:

http://www.pokerstars.com/poker/prom...r-millionaire/

Between now and December 3rd, you can play in our special Round 1 Moneymaker Millionaire tournaments for your chance at a million dollar top prize. Your first entry to a Round 1 is absolutely free, and you can earn additional entries by earning 10 Frequent Player Points (FPP). Frequent player Points are points awarded to players for play
in real money games.

You can find out more about earning FPP on our website here:

http://www.pokerstars.com/fpp/

FPP have many uses other than the Moneymaker Millions. With FPP, you can:

* Buy cool things in the "FPP Store"
* Enter satellite tournaments to other major land based events:
a) The European Poker Tour
b) The WCOOP -- World Championship of Online Poker
c) The World Series of Poker
d) The World Poker Tour

Or, you can exchange just 10 FPP (which you can earn in as few as 5 to 10 minutes of poker or in one $20 tournament) for an extra Round 1 shot at being the next Moneymaker Millionaire.

Good luck to you, and we hope to see you in Atlantis, Paradise Island, Bahamas at the final table, as a money maker yourself collecting your own million.

My wife is at home today and she was paying attention when the first one of these went up. She said there were a thousand people registered in the first minute of registration and 2400 within five minutes.

Re: Stars $2.5 million freeroll

It maxed out at 10,000 with 4 minutes left in the registration period.

Re: Stars $2.5 million freeroll

Looks like the hardest part is just getting past the first round, since only the top 50 advance and the fields are insanely deep. According to their schedule, there are 24 round 1's per week, which means 1200 people make it to the weekly round 2, of which 240 or 20% advance. Assuming 4 weeks in the month, that's 960 people in the monthly round 3, of which 120 or 16.6% cash. The average player making it to round 2 will have about a 3.3% chance of actually winning something, which is considerably higher than the average player's chance of getting top 50 in a round 1 with 10k people.

Brakara 07-24-2006 02:10 PM

Re: Stars $2.5 million freeroll

Not every round 1 will have 10k players, like the one at 5 a.m.

LotsOfOuts69 07-24-2006 02:18 PM

Re: Stars $2.5 million freeroll

you should notice that the first mothly round 3 will only have two Round 2 qualifiers into it, (as opposed to 4 weekly round 2's for every other month.)

Thats gonna make the first round 3 only 640 people instead of 1280.

Of course, it will be harder to get to round three because I think there will be more people in every round #1 at the start of this promotion ( i.e people using there free round 1 ticket ASAP)

yeah, but if you look at the actual events, they added a few round 1's this week so there will be 32 round 1's this week.

I rather take the chips from the people who've won coin-flips than doing coin-flips myself. Your edge is just way too large to do coin-flips early on. Value-betting is the key here, as people will call you down with anything.
