Bleh. I was fairly confident he had trash again. He decides to make a stand with 54... cuz it's s0000ted!

At least I had my money in with the best hand, and with 8-high there's not much more I can ask.

I wouldn't feel too bad since any reasonable hand beat you.

Are you serious? I had tremendous fold equity here versus most players and about 9 BBs. I need to pick up a lot of these pots when he shows weakness like he does here.

Re: $27 SNGs - stupid limp-callers

Nope.

I'm not saying I made the best play in the world either. But which play is substantially worse:

Sometimes pushing all-in with any two cards after your opponent shows weakness, while short-stacked.

Sometimes calling an all-in with 5-high after your opponent shows strength, with a 2:1 chip advantage.

The point of this post was not that I made some great play. The point of this post was this was the worst limp-call I've ever seen. I've never seen someone do this with 5-high before.

I was the villain in this hand and I knew the OP had trash, so it was a fairly easy call, and it turned out to be the right one

Re: $27 SNGs - stupid limp-callers (worst ever?)

Yeah I agree with you, he shouldn't call with 45. I prefer to check since you still have a decent amount of blinds heads up but yeah if you're going to raise then it has to be all in. Beware though of this play, people do limp strong hands heads up in sng's for precisely this reason. His justification that he knew you had trash too is the biggest load of rubbish ever, he still can't call.

he knew the 4 was coming, you need to stop thinking about what he had preflop and work on your flop, turn, and rivers

I knew the villain was very loose, like 50/13 or whatever, but he's folded to my raises before, so I really didn't expect him to call here.

I wasn't sure whether this would be better in STT or here. Variance in the sense that I lost a 70/30, I guess. Not that I'd post every 70/30 here or anything; this simply was the worst call I've ever seen.

I agree. This week I really need to improve on outflopping my opponents.

Isn't it illegal if the villain doesn't tell you he's a psychic, has a pattern mapper, or whatever? I mean, that just isn't fair.

worst call ever? Dude Ive seen people call money while playing the board on the river when 9 high would beat them

Re: $27 SNGs - stupid limp-callers

In this situation... yes, worst call ever. I'm talking pre-flop here. I have never seen someone limp, then call a substantial raise all-in for half their stack while heads-up with 54s.

There's very ways it could have been worse - 53, 52, 43, 42, 32. And I've never seen those yet. So... worst call ever. Show me someone calling with one of those worse hands in this situation.

bigt2k4 07-08-2006 06:18 PM

Re: $27 SNGs - stupid limp-callers

dude I clearly made the correct call, and imho it was a great call and you got pwn3d, therefore it cannot possibly be thought of as a bad call.
