flop v DirkPitt

played this hand not too long ago, any thoughts welcome, villain is a regular, winning player - he claims to be a 5/10 player just taking it easy and was chatting with another player about how much he loves cardrunners etc etc. probably a good chance he posts here i'm not sure. no reads except that he's repopped my pfr several times and I've folded (AQo type hands) or called and folded flop to his aggression. I hate posting AA/KK hands and prefer more complex hands but I thought this might be of interest...

Party nl400 I have ~500 he has ~1800 or so

I get dealt AA UTG and make it 15, he's to my left, makes it 45 (his standard raise), folded back to me, I make it 125 he calls after a few seconds.

Flop: (~$255) K[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]Q[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]J[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]

My plan, w/ 375 behind = ?

Yuck, this sucks

You're only beating AK or MAYBE TT here. Awful flop. I'd probably pour soda on my keyboard.

Probably c/f and type AA into the box.

Either push or cr ai. I'm never folding here for sure.

edit: actually, i just remembered that DP is a nit. you can probably c/f. but whatever.

easy Check/fold IMO. You have 6 outs.

DP's range pf is wayyy wider than TT-AA and AK... at least, it has been in the past couple weeks.

CR-AI is the play here.

check/fold sounds way too nitty.
i think this spot is highly read/image dependent.
is he able to fold a lower set? what is his reraising range?
do you ever chk/raise all in without the nuts? do you have a backdoor flushdraw for some additional equity?

Ya, this guy is tight abc. I've never seen him demonstrate any talent whatsoever; he plays by the book and heckles me for not playing like him. He's very easy to read.

In this situation, I probably check fold. His rr range is so small; all of his range hit this flop and most of it is beating you.

Re: flop v DirkPitt

interesting replies thus far. as we were playing i noticed that his range wasn't INCREDIBLY loose, but he was running around 30/21 or something like that. and it seemed like he was trying to bully the table a little bit. i hope the c/f "AA" comment was a joke, and open pushing or cr ai seem to allow villain to play perfect poker/make a correct decision.

my stack v size of the pot contributes greatly to what makes it a difficult situation IMO.

FWIW here's a hand that happened just prior to this one.

DP opens pot, button (other big stack) repots, DP minraises on top, button calls. KJJ check check, turn x DP check-calls 1/2 pot bet, riv (~300) KJJxx he checks and calls a 250 bet with AK and loses to KK after typing in "i'll pay you off, this is a bad call"

ummmm dirkpitt is a huge donkey and he sucks really really bad. Wait for a better spot and he will give you his chips , seriously one of the worst players on party poker 400 nl level without a doubt

Re: flop v DirkPitt

i rescind my previous reads of him as solid... this weekend i managed to stack him 4-5 times for full stacks b/w 400 and 600, what a donkey. i was like +2600 -350 v him.

he probably had 33 in the previous hand in question.

Re: flop v DirkPitt

btw i don't think i ever posted results in the original hand. i ended up closing my eyes and half-potting, intending to call a push. he thought like 2.5 seconds and folded. i still genuinely wonder what he had - or maybe he viewed me as making a move who knows...

Unless you are DirkPitt, I don't believe that he is a huge, huge donkey - he overvalues his good hands for sure and usually plays completely transparent.

Maybe his game has taken a turn for the awful in recent weeks.

I hadn;t noticed him doing anything stupid and always thought he was a huge nit, but maybe hes tilting lately.
