Live 10/25nl

9 handed. I'm sitting with 2500, most cover. Game is VERY soft, but in a high variance, noone ever folds way.

UTG raises to 100, 5 callers (told ya) to me in the sb with AKo. What's your plan in a game like this guys?

shove

A viable line given my stack size, though I feel like others in the game would put me squarely on AK with a shove here. FWIW, if I had under 2k I think a shove is the only play.

make it 800 and do some live stuff that makes it look like a steal. if anyone calls just shove flop dark.

LOL, this is EXACTLY what I did. Well, almost exactly. Made it 850 pre. UTG+1 called. I shoved dark. Thoughts?

calling is pretty bad here, make it 750 and push flop regardless.

OK, so it seems most agree with the line I took (dark shove nonwithstanding). Thanks for the replies guys.

If your going to shove dark, why not just shove preflop?

If you shove PF you may not get a call. If you make it 850, look at a flop containing A or K and only then shove, you probably don't get called by worse. If you make it 850 and shove dark, even if the flop has an A or K, you may just get QQ to call because he'll be wondering about the dark shove, right?

I actually did the same thing in live 5/10 with the dark shove, flop contained an A and QQ called because he just couldn't beleive he was beat. Had I waited to see the flop no way he calls. Relative stack sizes in my case were a little shorter (80ish BB for me PF I think) which made it easier for me to do but still...

You played it fine. That or pushing PF... Can't really mess this hand up.

Re: Live 10/25nl

The main reason I posted this hand was to see if anyone could make an argument for taking a more passive line in this spot (I never really considered it, and still think the standard/aggro line is correct).

For the results oriented: Flop comes out 8 high. Villain calls for the third time with two black kings.

pop it. maybe 800-1k?

Re: Live 10/25nl

There's 635 in the pot, you have 2500. The opener has a loose range, as well as all the callers? If so, why would a shove indicate AK precisely? We could consider pushing more liberally, and their perception wouldn't be gaining them anything.

Do I need to re-eval my game if I think pushing > calling > raising here?
