NL25 - Time to Fold Aces?

No hands with villain...so no read.
I've seen a lot of nasty stuff at this level, so I hate throwing away overpairs...but this seems like a good time to do it.

Oh man,
that's a tough spot. I play $25NL myself and I see them play 62o for a raise oop every day. On the other hand, those guys are entirely capable of calling JT on this flop and then go wild with TPBK.

I guess, I fold here and just keep waiting, because people will throw their money at you in spots where you have a lot easier decisions.

I would call this for sure. I think you will see something like KJ AJ maybe QJ or J10 most of the time here.

having a read in this case would make your decision a lot easier as well.

Yeah I agree w/ just calling down here on the river, what you should have down was repop him on the turn to force him to make a decision, not you.

I also think your seeing Jx alot here and even maybe A2. Either way I just flat the river and take a note of what he had

It would be awfully sick value bluffing the turn and river.

It's as close to a postflop fold on a non-superscary board that there is with Aces at 25nl.

Re: NL25 - Time to Fold Aces?

I don't find this to be a sick spot at all. With no reads I'd probably push here. He's likely terrible(open limp c/o) and could easily have called QJcc and caught a pair. Pretty unlikely he has a set because JJ raises preflop and only set he can have is 66. I just don't give credit to people on 22x flops, short of flopping a set it's one of the best boards (esp HU) that you can ask for.

I put villain on Jx and raise the turn. as played, call the river for the same reason.

Note that villain cannot have A2s FWIW.

Edit: need to reread my own advice. "raise the river for the same reason". Given stack sizes you won't be worrying about a RR, and will get called by Jx.

I think calling is awful here. Time to ship it all with a fistpump.

Re: NL25 - Time to Fold Aces?

I didn't say I'd fold -- I'd just think it's a sick spot for vbet bluffs and it LOOKS (uninentionally maybe) megastrong. I'd generally raise the turn because many people at 25nl are bad players but insofar as I'd THINK about folding AA on a nonridic board, this is as close as it would be.

[/ QUOTE ] just want to point out that this is pretty terrible. You want him to fold worse so you can have the initiative when you have position? Raising the turn loses a ton of value.

I interpret villain as calling on the flop with overs against a perceived c-bet, then catching one of his 'outs'. I think raising the turn is the best way to play for stacks., which I wantto do. Disagree?

Disagree?

[/ QUOTE ]yeah. I guess if you want to minraise the turn here then that's better. But the pot is going to be $15 on the turn and stacks are going to be $17. Not many people check the river after betting the turn and their opponent showing "weakness". Minraise may infact be best here but if he's bluffing it's terrible.

So, Charger, are you saying that raising the turn is going to cause him to fold so we should not raise?

Re: NL25 - Time to Fold Aces?

Alright...lots of good discussion, so I think I'll give the results.

I was 18-tabling at the time, and really went into the tank on this one.

I rarely run into this kind of aggression at this level, so I usually take it pretty seriously.

The only thing I could come up with was 66. I talked myself into folding, which is definitely against my instinct here.

He was pissed off, and showed jacks...seemed convinced I would call (and was convinced I had aces).

Raise turn and the rest is gonna be easy you will see.

If he really has a set there is no way not to go broke in that spot.
