The Official Fuji @ the ME Thread

Alright guys. The wait is over. Eugene just gave me a ring to let me know he was at 11,075 at the break...updates will be given sproadically. Let's all hope he goes on a huge heater to win us a ton of money.

No specific hhs were given to me, but those should come as the tourney progresses.

Oh, and for those that are wondering. Fuji is currently listening to "I'm running bad" (the TA cd) to mellow out and play like a champion.

Did he manage to work in the names of any famous players at his table, so he could get on ESPN like MicroBob did last year?

BTW, among the early chip leaders: Norm McDonald (nice to see he's found a new career after the SNL firing/cancelled sitcom), and one David Sklansky.

Mason's playing this year, too, for the first time. Any word on where he is?

Ignignokt 07-28-2006 06:18 PM

Re: The Official Fuji @ the ME Thread

Mason doesn't appear on Cardplayer.com's chip count, but that may be because they don't recognize him.

Phil Gordon said he was a good player...

EDIT: ...but apparently not THAT good - he looks like he lost a huge pot. Or Card Player got his chip count way wrong. My money's on the second option.

EDIT 2: Now he's busted. Hubris, I say.

And Fuji is down to T7750, just ahead of Dan Harrington and Minh Ly.

No worries Norm MacDonald just busted out.
Unfortunatly Fuji is down to 7k chips atm.

Gus Hanson went from 400 chips to over 15k now. Pretty crazy rollercoaster.

Re: The Official Fuji @ the ME Thread

TOTALLY SICK!! LIVE pokah is SO RIGGED!

Jack Mahalingam is all-in for $5,000 and is called an opponent in late position. Mahalingam shows 8[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]8[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] and his opponent has 5[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]5[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]. The flop is 6[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]5[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]5[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] and his opponent flops quads. The turn is a 9[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] giving Mahalingam a gut-shot straight flush draw (his only way to win). The river is the 7[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] giving Mahalingam the straight flush and the hand.

AND he doesn't even qualify for the BBJP because both cards did not play

Re: The Official Fuji @ the ME Thread

In the absence of Fuji news, Sklansky shows some punk sitcom star who's boss:

"On a board of 10[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]9[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]7[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]J[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], David Sklansky checks and Danny Masterson bets $1,100. Sklansky makes the call and the river is the 7[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]. Sklansky fires $2,400 and Masterson immediately calls. He mucks his hand when Sklansky shows 9[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]9[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] for a full house."

Is it just me, or did Card Player perhaps miss some significant flop action?

MrWookie 07-29-2006 03:12 AM

Re: The Official Fuji @ the ME Thread

Bah. Sklansky doesn't need flop action to make loads of theoretical money. You've read TOP. He was able to make theoretical money using the theoretical best play with a theoretical quads showing in a theoretical stud game. Theoretically.

Latest Fuji Update:

Just got off the phone with Fuji while I was typing this post so this will be the most current update (12:50AM PST)

I apologize in advance for the suckage of my posting layout but I am an inexperienced poster, just a child hood friend of Fuji's who can't even work his way out of the kiddie pool.

Sometime during level 3 Fuji's chipstack peaked around 25k.

He then, as you all know dropped down to around 7k (actually as low as 6400). He lost a couple of pots but the biggest one was for around 12,500 of his stack.

Big Beat:
Blinds 100/200

Preflop: Fuji (~24k) is LP with 66
1MP Limper, Fuji Limps, sb (~12,500) raises to 1k. MP folds, Fuji calls. HU to the flop.

Flop: J 6 J
sb checks, Fuji bets 1,500, sb raises all in, Fuji calls.

Fuji shows 66 6's full of J's
SB shows KK

Turn: K

River: irrelevant

= ouchie

The good news however, is that as of the time of this post, our hero was back up to a stack that is off life support of 24,450. Two hands brought him back in a big way as follows.

Hand 1:

Blinds 150/300 with a 25ante
Preflop
Fuji (~10k) is BB with 9h9c
folded to short stack (~6k) one off the button. short stack limps. sb completes. fuji raises to 1500. short stack reraises all in for his full 6k, sb folds, fuji calls.

short stack shows AK. Board: T84T8. Fuji wins the race for 6k in chips.

Hand 2:

Preflop:
Same level Fuji is in the sb with A7o
Folded to Fuji in the sb, Fuji has a pro (he didn't remember his name) decked out in FT gear to his left in the BB that has him covered. Fuji raises to 1200, BB calls.

Flop:
A 8 5 rainbow
Fuji Checks, BB Checks

Turn: T
Fuji Checks, BB bets 2k, Fuji Calls. Pot:6400

River: T
Fuji Checks, BB bets 3200, Fuji Calls. Shows his aces up no kicker, BB folds.

That is all I have for now but I will be sure to post when he calls me again when there is something new to report. If anybody would like to direct me to where I can make nicer hand posts um feel free, I take constructive criticism well. GO FUJI!

New Latest Fuji Update (2:20AM PST)

Just got off the phone with Fuji again. Nothing much has really happened. Blinds are at 200/400 with a 50 ante so hes been up and down just on the 1100/orbit swing.

Currently he is sitting around 23k in chips with 1 hour left to go on level 7 for the final day. Will post an exact count on his day 1 finish if I am still up when he calls back.

He says thanks for all the support and keep rooting for him.

Re: The Official Fuji @ the ME Thread

Go fuji, you made it to day two. Very impressive! Gus busted, lolol! Funny, you wade 14 hrs through a field of 2100, only to wake up on "day 2" to a field of 3200. Sick game.

MrWookie 07-29-2006 12:25 PM

Re: The Official Fuji @ the ME Thread

Yeah, I agree. Just making day 2 is something to be quite proud of in this thing.
